2023.06.10 13:17 and-bouv0397 All clear . no chest xray just allergies
i want to give a really positive post ! confirmed my tezspire didnt cause pneumonia but a fluke happened and i had a real nasty flare due to allergies last month . however my asthma is improving and my doc said im a poster child for tezspire !! but i must keep up with my treatments . also once im well enough to stop tezspire my doc wants me on a dust allergy treatment ! Which is making me a bit more symptomatic these days !! im really happy im doing much better , and that eases a lot of anxiety for me . but once im well enough to stop tezspire i hope i wont decline again back to severe cause i couldnt even walk for long periods of time - i mean like walk regular speed ! but now that im improving i see a light at the end of the tunnel . my old life back even though i may have allergies for life i wont let it ruin what life has to offer .
Edit : i meant chest infection lol last time i had to get a chest xray so i got that mixed up lol

2023.06.10 10:18 peanutbutterbaby20 i have allergy-induced asthma
all my life i’ve had really bad seasonal allergies. i’m mostly allergic to grass pollen and ragweed, but normally have issues with itchy/runny nose, itchy eyes, and sneezing. for some reason this year, i developed a bad cough and chest congestion that hasn’t gone away for weeks. i cant laugh or lay down without coughing and it has been interrupting my sleep. i went to an allergist and had breathing tests done, and was told that i have allergy-induced asthma. this has never happened to me before this year. what factors tend to cause this other than allergies being super bad right now?

i have an allergy to cats yet i have 3..everytime they’re in the house they gravitate towards my bed and just all sleep there. i either wake up from not being able to breathe or i sneeze with watery eyes and nose for hours on end which is what happened yesterday. one of my cats in particular is “mine” specifically and she always sleeps on my bed. i try to move her away on the couch but she comes back to my bed. if i don’t let her in my room she scratches the door or the window to be let in and sometimes i feel bad so i just let her in. but i can’t take it anymore..yesterday was really rough for me. i even took 2 Telfasts & kept my asthma puffer with me but my sneezing and shit wouldn’t go away. idk what to do?

Planning to buy a new mattress. kasi yung old na mattress ko pinacover lang ng leatherette para madali linisan pag maalikabok. I think its time palitan ko na kasi baka may new innovations sa mattresses today. Palagi akong sinisipon basta natutulog sa mga hotels(espacially old hotels) so super important ang good mattress for me, baka may marecommend kayo. Thank you!

2023.06.10 05:42 dinkstwrs What’s your guy’s bet that I get in with my wonderful MEPS visit
Alright folks, just went to meps and got hit up with 5 disqualifications. I have something’s going for me though. Most likely going to get waivers denied but screw it. Here’s the list of DQ’s:
Autism(could be a misdiagnosis): diagnosed at two years old. Never had any meds for it and never had any special assistance(only diagnosed because I didn’t talk till I was 3). Also have a doctors note saying that it was a misdiagnosis.
Childhood Asthma: only had a asthma attack when I was 9 y/o. Last time inhaler was ordered was in 2020 because I was a minor and my mom ordered it for me before my high school football season. Doctor wrote a note saying that I’m fine. Getting a PFT at meps on Monday which should be no problem.
Passed out in 2021 in the shower: this was because I wasn’t eating or drinking (less than 500 calories a day, lost 60lbs though lol) enough due to me trying to loose as much weight as possible and I fainted in the shower. Haven’t dealt with similar symptoms since. Doctor wrote a not saying that I’m fine as well since. I most likely will have to do an EKG test and I should do well on the test.
Overweight: I’m over the BMI limit by like .3 which is my fault which should be fine because I’m loosing weight in a healthy way now.
Peanut allergy: this is the one I know will get denied for sure due to me being anaphylactic. BUT, I have a trick up my sleeve. I’m in the process of getting oral immunotherapy(develop tolerance by eating tiny peanuts over time)for my allergy to get to a point where it’s not super severe anymore. People in other branches have done this before for their peanut allergy so it has been proven to work.
Cashew allergy: same thing for peanuts but not as severe.
In the perfect scenario they only deny my waivers only for my nut allergies not for anything else. But we’ll see. I have other branches to try as well because I will regret it if I don’t. I’ll take anyone who will take me.
I’m gonna fight these to the very end. Decides the nut allergy DQ’s non of these affect me(thanks genesis). Just posting this because it’s been my dream serving in any branch and if it means I have to jump all these hoops to get in the door, I’ll do it. Just wanted to share and hopefully good news follows through. Expect the worst, hope for the best. Never give up.
Also big ups to my doctor. He was able to provide me with a lot of notes.

2023.06.10 05:40 EngineeringLumpy Really uncomfortable SOB, any suggestions
27 female, healthy BMI, no significant pmhx. I take vyvanse and Prozac daily, as well as a multivitamin.
I want to start by saying I do NOT believe this is an emergency situation as it’s been going on for about 2 days now, and I am a nurse so I trust my judgement somewhat although I know I’m not the best nurse for my own self.
The past 3 days I’ve had this really uncomfortable naggging shortness of breath. I’m in the southeast United States so I’m not exactly close to the forest fire in Canada, but we do have an air quality warning in effect. This started the same day our air quality warning was issued. I lost my home pulse ox so idk what I’m satting, but my skin is nice and pink/warm, so no cyanosis. I don’t think I’m hypoxic. No headache, no wheezing, coughing, etc. just a constant feeling of not being able to inhale completely. I tried listening to my lungs, and in the spots I was able to hit myself, they sounded clear and good. Some tachycardia on and off but that’s normal for me from taking vyvanse. I do get seasonal allergies but not so bad that I need to take medication every day. Never been dx with asthma or any kind of respiratory illness. I’ve had covid twice while vaccinated and recovered fine. Most recent known covid was in February. I’m debating on whether or not I should go to an urgent care this weekend for an inhaler rx or just try to wait until the air pollution clears? Any suggestions? Thank you

2023.06.10 05:29 Throwaway_nothing0 My asthma has been getting worse, but the doctors keep dismissing it as nothing.
I've had extremely mild asthma most of my life, as in using an inhaler once a year. During winter, my asthma started getting worse. As in, I needed the inhaler everyday, I woke up with a wheeze nearly everyday. Every doctor I've been to has acted like it's nothing to worry about. They tell me it's normal. I have a rescue inhaler, I take montelukast and levocetrazine every night. It's now summer and they said it would improve, but if anything, my asthma has been getting worse. I now have a chronic cough, I'm sensitive to environmental factors, my allergies are so bad, that even with the max dose of my medications I still get symptoms. I now cough a lot whenever I'm around smoke.
I have pretty bad anxiety, and it's scaring me. I've had 3 different doctors tell me that since I'm young its probably nothing. They haven't done any tests, just listen to my lungs and send me on my way. I've been around second hand smoke my entire life (tobacco and cannabis and the people in my house smoke blunts daily), and I've smoked cannabis since my teens (not so much anymore as it triggers my asthma) and they tell me that's why. I'm wondering if it could be more serious? Sometimes the inhalers don't work and I have to sit outside and take deep breaths until it stops. My paternal grandfather died of lung cancer.
Relevent information: 28F, 5'10, around 180lbs, white, wellbutrin xr 350mg, I also take a otc zinc pill, vitamin b12, melatonin. I smoke cannabis a few times a week.

2023.06.10 04:00 Impossible-Change-39 When buying a vacuum
What to keep in mind when buying a vacuum When buying a vacuum, there are several things to keep in mind: 1. Type of vacuum: There are several types of vacuums, including upright, canister, stick, and robotic. Consider which type of vacuum will work best for your needs. 2. Suction power: Look for a vacuum with strong suction power to ensure that it can effectively clean carpets and other surfaces. 3. Filtration: If you or someone in your household has allergies or asthma, look for a vacuum with a HEPA filter, which can capture small particles like dust and pollen. 4. Bag or bagless: Decide whether you want a vacuum with a bag or a bagless vacuum. Bagless vacuums are more convenient but can be messier to empty. 5. Accessories: Consider the accessories that come with the vacuum, such as a crevice tool or upholstery brush. These can make it easier to clean hard-to-reach areas.By considering these factors, you can choose a vacuum that will meet your needs and keep your home clean.

2023.06.10 03:59 HauntingTrash7543 Extreme amount of Allergies
I recently went through allergy testing, because of some other health issues. I knew I was allergic to all nuts, shellfish, and I knew something has been going on with dairy. I’m anaphylactic to whey protein shakes also.
I also can’t have raw vegetables, or fruit with a pit or a core. The reaction to raw vegetables is dangerous, the reaction to pitted fruit and cored fruit is mostly lip swelling, raw throat, and hideous stomach cramps.
I am allergic to dogs and cats also. I know I’m allergic to ragweed, hay, and Birch. Severely allergic to hay, I also have bad reactions to being around corn stocks.
It turns out I’m also allergic to soy, sesame, corn, wheat and confirmed my dairy allergy. Not intolerant, I’m actually allergic to all of these things.
Soy, sesame, corn, and wheat I didn’t know I was allergic to. I have constant headaches, stomach problems, and asthma. The doctor said all of that could be derived from a more mild allergy to those. My allergy markers for those are much lower than mine markers for nuts, for example.
I have a physical reaction to milk from a gallon now(recent change), but I don’t notice anything if I have a cheese stick. My reaction to uncooked vegetables is violent, but if they are cooked, nothing happens. I can have applesauce but not raw apples.
I also don’t get sick. If I get a cold, it goes away within 24 hours. The flu usually last between 1 to 2 days.
I’m just trying to minimize eating things I’m allergic to. The doctor said I’m having an allergic reaction 24/7/365 to something. Would an allergist or immunologist even be able to help at all? Nutritionist? Seems pointless

2023.06.10 00:29 beachlove-01 Lump on head and constant pain in sinus area ?termingal neuralgia. Worried this is secondary to a tumor. Please help
34f history of throat infections leading to tonsilectomy. Asthma and allergy symptoms Continued frequent sore throats and sore ears without evidence of infection. Non-amoker, no drugs occasional alcohol
Noticed a lump on my head about 3 months ago. Went to 2xGPs and they said it was nothing to worry about. Constant pain in my sinus area and have been on 3x courses Of antibiotics the last 6 or so weeks with suspected sinus and tooth infection on same side. Antibiotics would make pain subside. Nurofen also helps with pain. The pain is like pressure and constant and not like a brief shock
I have required a root canal on my tooth for sometime due to wisdom tooth impacting on that tooth. Went in for root canal yesterday but dentist sent me to GP as he thinks the symptoms I having aren't related to my tooth and could be termingal neuralgia.
The GP has referrered me for an MRI but my usual GP wasn't available so he didn't have notes and I was in too much pain and forgot to mention the lump on my head. I am also often waking up with a sensation that my lips are being tugged to the left. This is a fleeting sensation. I am also still in pain but he didn't give me more antibiotics as he doesn't think it's an infection.
I'm now worried that I have a tumor that is causing all of this. But think logically that the pain is all where my tooth issue is so it must just be related? And dentist is being cautious?
MRI isn't until Wednesday and I'm freaking out . Any insight would be very helpful
Thank you

2023.06.09 22:08 commandotaco Singulair and vivid dreams
Singulair, the asthma/allergy medicine, has been known to cause vivid dreams as a side effect. Can find many reports of this on reddit, for example. Perhaps this is the wrong sub for this, but does anyone have a guess to why this happens?
An extremely optimistic point of view would be that it could be beneficial to their sleep, and they get more REM and higher incidence of dreams. There are some mentions that they got more dreams in the first few weeks of taking Singulair, which could be attributed to REM rebound. But this feels like bit of a stretch - Singulair crosses the BBB, so there's probably just some chemical mechanism I'm not aware of. Does anyone know the answer to this?

2023.06.09 21:06 PansyPeople Carpet Deodorizer that removes smell but doesn't ADD fragrance?
Hey everyone, I was hoping someone could recommend a carpet "odor neutralizer" that's a powder form, that doesn't ADD any fragrance to "cover up" the smell. I have always replaced carpet in my home immediately upon moving in due to suffering allergies/asthma and I also have migraines so for me solid surface flooring is better from a health perspective. However we recently moved and I have not been able to replace the carpet we have and it's.. not ideal. I have bought a wet-vac carpet cleaning thing and also "odor neutralizers" but the smell of these is gag-inducing and gives me terrible headaches and breathing issues. I know I need to get rid of the carpet, that is number one on my to-do list but until then is there ANYTHING that removes stink, but doesn't ADD stink?
Thanks so much.

2023.06.09 20:00 Morgellons-Live Vaccines; Nice Shots Or Not" article by Aajonus Vonderplanitz
"Vaccines; Nice Shots Or Not
I do not think that just this one article "Nice Shot" could change your mind about vaccines but what do you think.
On October 10, 2007 The New York Times published an article by Gary Taxali reviewing the book Nice Shot by Jessica Snyder Sachs. The review was not really a review but hashing support for Sachs' view that we should give our children flu shots. In his article, he berates parents for shunning flu shots for their children. He argues that we cannot become naturally immune to certain bacteria. He further argues that allowing particular sicknesses, such as flu and pneumonia, to run their course weakens children and makes them more prone to worse diseases later. He states, "health agencies have expanded their flu shot recommendations to include all children ages 6 months to 5 years in addition to adults over age 50, and anyone, child or adult, with a chronic condition like severe allergies, asthma or diabetes." The rest of the article lays the ground to support it unequivocally.
To even consider that his arguments should be accepted as basis to get our children, or anyone injected with flu vaccines is nonsense. Viruses are not alive and always changing. Viruses that exist in one person are not the same in another, and viruses change completely within a person about 72 hours. Therefore, the idea that flu vaccines are efficacious is absurd. It takes about 18 months to manufacture, market, promote and distribute one type of flu vaccine. Therefore, the vaccine is obsolete 18 months before there are plans to create a flu vaccine. If flu vaccines had any efficacy, they would have to be available within days of that particular virus being produced within our bodies. In either case, there is no scientific proof that flu vaccines create immunity from anything.
There is evidence though that vaccines are very harmful. Many people, especially children have severe reactions to vaccines, such as colds, flu, complete paralysis, hepatitis, pneumonia and death. Yet, Sachs and Taxali argue that to let pneumonia run its course is ignorant, idiotic, dangerous and irresponsible. Neither mentions all of the poisonous substances in all vaccines, such as liquid methyl mercury, aluminum, ether, formaldehyde and detergents. The quantity may vary but some or all of those substances are in all vaccines, including flu vaccines. What educated parent with knowledge about those toxins is going to believe the rhetoric from the industries that profit from vaccines, that flu shots are ultimately good for anyone, especially children?
How many of you would watch me dump a bunch of rotten eggs with disease into a blender with the neurotoxin methyl mercury, aluminum, formaldehyde, ether and detergents, blend them and offer it to your children, elderly parents and you as a preventative for flu? Who would drink it and allow their loved ones to drink it? Who thinks that we have better chances with microbes, with which humans have interacted for at least 4 million years, rather than a blatant soup of poisons? Natural immunity should always be our choice.
However, Maryland State government has begun to force vaccines on everyone's children. If parents do not get their children vaccinated, the parents will suffer jail time. I suggest that if you live in Maryland and you have children, move to another state quickly."

2023.06.09 14:45 Live_GetBibo The Troublesome Tale of the Persistent Cough: Causes and Remedies
Tired of that persistent cough that seems to linger no matter what you do? When a cough becomes more than just a passing annoyance, it's time to dig deeper and uncover the underlying causes.
Our everyday activities and general well-being might be negatively affected by the irritating and crippling condition of persistent coughing. While the occasional cough is a typical defence mechanism to open the airways, a protracted and persistent cough may be a sign of a serious health problem.
What causes a persistent cough? - Respiratory Infections: Persistent coughing might be brought on by the common cold, the flu, bronchitis, or pneumonia. These illnesses frequently result in mucus production that is excessive and airway irritation, both of which prolong coughing fits.
- Asthma: Among the most noticeable symptoms of asthma, people may have a chronic cough. Exercise, environmental factors, and allergens can set off an asthma attack, which results in shortness of breath, wheezing, and a persistent cough.
- Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD): Inflammation of the throat and a persistent cough might result from stomach acid draining back into the oesophagus. The GERD disease frequently gets worse at night or right after eating.
- Postnasal Drip: Excessive mucus production due to allergies, sinus infections, or nasal congestion can drip down the throat, leading to an ongoing cough.
- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD): Shortness of breath, a chronic cough, and recurrent respiratory infections are common symptoms of this progressive lung illness, which includes chronic bronchitis and emphysema.
