5 nights at aftons
4pm ,location aftons house,
Golden Freddy does a head turn to look right at Jack.” Who are you¨ Jack shouts across the room.freddy says nothing but still looks at him. Jack runs and runs as fast as he can spamming the elevator button for safety.lucky the door shuts just in time but something doesn't feel right to jack the elevator is not moving then he sees a blur an animatronic he sees but he doesn't know this one.the robot 12 ft high burt skull face razor sharp teeth and claws wires sticking out everywhere ¨who…… who ……… are you¨jack says the robot looks down at him and says ¨death jack death¨ all the sudden it attacks him biting ripping skin off him from the wires.but jack sees a logo that says afton enterprise.bleeding bad Jack escapes the elevator running out the door of the house the robot chasing him but wants he out the door the robot is flung back from something ¨hummmmmmmmm so they can't leave the house¨ jack says taunting the robot so called death.
Jack goes home to his apartment on the other side of town. When he gets home he treats the wounds trying not to scream in pain. And then he just lays down like that. Hoping nothing attacks him in his sleep.
¨hello¨ ¨ what did i do to you¨ ¨everything ̈ .errr errr errr ¨uhhhhh the pain.¨ Jack says looking at the alarm clock hitting snooze. getting out of bed jack turns on the lights to see his bandages came undone and his bed was covered in blood.later that morning jack went to the er to get stitches from the attack the nurse looks at him and says what happened to you jack just says ¨death¨ thats what happened the doctor stitches him up and sends him on his way when he drives by aftons house he sees death still waiting for him to come back in.¨not today he says¨ looking out the window.all the sudan his car exploded throwing jack in the air. Then Jack sees it land mines but why jack thinks to himself falling on the asphalt ¨i just got stitches know this¨jack screams.then he passes out.then he sees a boy getting hurt from fredy at a grand opening william shoving dead kids in the animatronics while wearing the spring trap costume then one drop of water hits the mask triggering the spinlocks crushing his body.jack wakes up to the sound of cop cars and ambulances.¨ Sir sir what happened¨ Jack just pointed at the house and said ¨him¨ the cops go over to the house while the paramedics put him in the ambulance.then cops start running from the house one cop being attacked calling for backup. Then the rest of the cops are dragged under ground by some strange mechanical tentacles.
¨what?¨ zoey says looking at jack¨is something wrong¨.jack says nothing but points behind her.zoey turns around but it's not there.”jack i think you need some rest”zoey says with a corsern face.”no no no i'm not going to sleep”jack says.but just then jack falls asleep to see he's in a room with one closet in front of him with 2 doors by it when he turns around he sees one bed behind him. he sits down waiting for something to happen. Just then he walks to one of the doors with the flashlight he just so happenly found by him. He opens the door to see if he hears or sees anything just then he hears something breathing. He turns on the flashlight to see a fredy with sharp teeth and a messed up body.Just then it runs at him terrified he quickly shuts the door and turns the flash light out. Then Freddy runs in the room and goes out the other door.he wakes up to his alarm which was for some reason set at 6 o'clock. Jack thinks nothing of it and turns on the TV to see the news is talking about the attack yesterday “police dragged under ground by strange tentacles after magor car crash”the headline said.jack didn't want to listen to it so he just turned the tv off.a few minutes later the nurse walks in and checks him out of the hospital.when zoey comes to pick him up he sees the same burnt bonnie he saw that night.when jack got in the car it was gone again.jack thought nothing of it and went on with his day.jack and zoey where trying to figure out where to finger lunch out when zoey says “how bout we go to fazbears pizzeria for lunch” as much as jack does not want to go back there he says “sure”.when they get settled in the restaurant jack sees a new chica.when the waitress comes up the order there food and talk awhile when the food comes out there's a $100 check that say your pay jack quickly takes it and stuffs it in his jacket before anyone notices. When jack and zoey leave the restaurant some guy gives jack a letter when jack gets home he reads the letter saying
Dear jack
I know about what happened with the animatronics that night so I'm giving you a second chance. So i need you to watch my house
willam afton
“Really this fool thinks i'm going to watch the house i almost died in no way”Jack says to him self.there was a knock at his door then when he opened the door it was the landlord “give me your keys you haven't paid rent for a week” he says. Jack doesn't know what to say so his mouth does it for him “5 more days and i'll have your money sir” the landlord responds with “fine but if you don't have the money i'm changing the lock” as he walks away.jack grabs his keys rights his will and goes to the house.when jack enters the house though it's different instead of being a run down dump it was beautiful marble staircase ,golden chandeliers, and instead of the robot death there was a butler at the door. When Jack went into the backyard there was a smoothie stand, a big clean pool and palm trees.william afton walks out and then shows jack the security room. There were 5 flat screen TVs for each part of the house. There were also vent cameras if he pressed shift on the keyboard.the door had 5 layers of plexi glass in case something happened .then willam showed him a secret room with a bed tv bathroom and a fridge full of hot pockets and corn on blue.soon willam left and jacks shift started to be continued.Knock knock knock jack herer at the plexiglass door jack looks to see who it is to see the butler when jack opens the door he is offered a beverage from the butler.jack kindly accept it and looks at the camera “nothing strange yet”jack thinks to himself as he takes a sip of his drink.7 o'clock hits so jack locks the door and takes a nap planning to wake up at 12.the time comes and jack gets up but before he goes in the other room he warms up some hot pockets. When Jack looks at the cameras he sees a shadow of the bonni.jack keeps the door lock just in case if something happens when he looks out the door he sees the skeleton robot waiting for it to open.``really i thought this guy was gone” jack thinks to himself when he sees the same chicka he destroyed at the pizzeria rolling around on a skateboard. Then he sees the thing he fears the most: the burnt bonnie at the door jack almost spilt his drink on him he was so scared.then he goes in his room grabs the sheet of his bed and the roll of tape off the table. Jack puts the sheet on the plexiglass door just to keep him calm during the job.Painting Jack takes a sip of his drink. 4 o'clock 5 o'clock 6 o'clock confetti covers the floor. Good job the camera says you completed your 1st night.when jack takes down the sheet to see if the robot was still there it was gone when he checked every room in the house there were no more robots.with relief jack goes in his room to take a napThe rest of the day Jack sits by the pool drinking smoothies and eating pineapple.his watch goes off 5 o'clock 5 o'clock Jack turns it off and heads inside.when he gets to his room he locks the door and takes a nap. When 7 hits he goes in the other room puts the sheet on the door and watches tick tock on his phone waiting for 6 o'clock when he hears something crawling through the vents jack grabs the nearby ax and waits when the creature comes through the vent he swings when he hears “patron sir are you trying to kill the buttlar” the vent opened and the buttlar stuck his head out and started to come in.”wait how do i know you're actually the butler you could just be a robot”jack says “i have no proof but i also trust you” the buttlar says, the buttlar comes in with a duffle bag.soda, chips, tablets, rubix cubes, and pizza.”dude how much stuff did you bring” jack says “enuf to last the rest of the week”.few hours go by and more confetti covers the floor.congrats the screen says you survived night 2.”this is only going to get harder”jack says plugging in the devices.”there's going to be more of them soon”the buttlar says. “My name's jack”jack says “brysan” the buttlar says sticking out his hand “Knock knock KNock” here at the door.the butler slowly lifts the sheet then braysan jumps back.”what is it?” Jack says looking terrified, brayson says “a…….a……..burnt bonnie suit”.”thank lord im not the only one who sees him”jack says.then the door falls on the ground leaving the sheet up still though.”quick in the vents!”brayson hollers. They quickly throw everything in the duffle bag and climb in.then they see the burnt bonnie suit walking around trying to find them then it says “jack come out” then it hits jack the voice the robot everywhere it was afton.the whole time how did he not figure that out he thinks to himself crawling through the vents.then braysan is gone “braysan!”Jack hollers, then something grabs him,“ahhh!” Jack screams trying to get the grip off then he sees it is just a robotic hand then it pulls him looking at the hand again he sees its covered in blue fur. When the arm stops dragging him he sees himself in the old axols bbq that had been closed for a while after an unknown accident.he sees the old rusted robot suits and stays away from them in case they were dangerous too.jack sees a door with a blood lock (which would require him to give it blood to open) he bangs on the door for help but nothing happens.jack walks over to the old robots to see they had many malfunctions then out of nowhere one turns on and starts singing.then the blood lock door opens and he sees a tall figure who pulls him in. In the room Jack sees braysan in the corner with a bottle of water and bandaging.”What happened to you?” Jack asks, looking terrified at braysan. “The alligator thing got me” he says.jack looks at the man and says “who are you” “names cael i'm the owner of here” jack sits down and starts eating his room tempetar smushed corn on blue from the security room.”how do we get out of here” brayson say “you can't” cael respondes.”the only way in and out are the vents but somethings in there and it doesn't want us leaving” cael says. In the corner of the room jack see vials with things like ink, wood, blue fur, piece of cloth, and metal scraps.”what's that” jack ask “things i got from other areas” says cael.”what do you mean” braysan ask.”have you heard of the backrooms if so it's kinda like that accept more monsters so far i encounter killer dolls animatronics a murder ink monster and old person zombie”but i can't get past the doll.”i think i know who made this world besides you” jack says “what do you mean” cael says “i mean william afton made this nightmare world i saw him he has the burnt bonnie suite on he wants to kill all of us do you understand!” jack hallers. “That's it i'm taking a walk” cael says.when the door closes jack hears a loud slam in the wall and then a few swear word.jack rushes out side with the ax to see caels arm has been ripped off by axol.jack gats cael back in the room and bandages it up.”OK NEW RULE YALL NO GOING OUT ALONE”braysan. Then they hear a sound outside like a blade scraping metal then the door opens.Jack, cael, and braysan stand up fast to fight.then they see a person with 2 swords and one robot arm in his hand.jack looks up in shock and says “I thought i killed you” “what” the person says “i hit you with my car 5 months ago” jack says “that was you” “yes” “then you'll die” the person runs towards jack with both swords by his sides .before he can hit jack cael stops him with the ax and says”he's a survivor he can help us find the way out so lets not kill each other” the person looks and looks angrily and says “fine he can live but one wrong move and he's dead got it” “what's your name” jack ask “orion” “Orion cannon”orion says sitting down with axols arm attaching it to cael with the remaining muscles and bone left when he's done the arm works how cael needs it to like a normal arm.when he gets up he grabs a pull string bag and canteen while putting food in the bag jack ask “what are you doing” “going back to level 3 there's been crying in there for a while trying to find where its coming from” orion says “but what if there's more robots” jack says “dont worry theres not just killing toys like this big blue one and a pink a big spider and lots more” orion answers “but how do you get there” braysan ask “the vents” “then we should all go” jack says “why you have a death wish or something” orion says ¨yes yes i do¨ jack says ¨after all i survived i'm sure i should live till we escape ¨ ¨fine let's go then we got to be back by 8 or were dead¨orion says.they climb up in the vents and start crawling to the next level when they get out they see a abandoned toy factory and here crying¨where is that coming from¨cael ask ¨that's the thing there's no human life here¨orion says. After awhile of walking the floor fell in on cael dropping him straight down when every one checks to see if he alive they hear ¨y'all come down hear and bring flashlights¨ so orion past out flashlights and they all jumped down when they landed they turned on the flash lights to see a girl with ripped up clothes and cuts all over her “Who are you” the girl says looking terrified “orion, jack, cael, braysan.”orion says staring the girl down “were looking for survivors”cael quickly says looking rather nervous “and who are you” braysan says “gabby”the girl says.”ok well you can join us we have food and soda”cael said.”thanks but i'm good”gabby said getting up.orion quickly pulled a sword from his bag and gave it to gabby “how many of those things do you even have”braysan said in shock “about 50 at least” orion said “yall we need to get going we don't have long till it comes out” gabby says “till what comes out” cale says “the spider”gabby said “wait what does it look like”jack says “its pink 4 arms and is plastic”gabby says “kind of like the toy from when i was a kid mommy long legs” braysan replies.”well if that's the thing we need to leave”orion says.”where are you children” a voice says. “RUN!” gabby hallers. The group runs straight to the vent climbing as fast as they can. Eventually they get back to base.”welp we're screwed” jack says “sissy”orion says.”ill show u a sissy after i kick your” “stop!” ceal says “if were going to survive we need to get along last thing we need is orion skinning jack” “so you're saying i'm too weak to beat him in a fight” jack says in anger “no i'm just saying orion will cut your head off your body and cook u over a fire faster than u can say a word” cale says back “know what this is stupid i'm leaving” jack says walking out “well should we remind him of the robots”braysan says “maybe later” gabby responds later y=the group hears bloody scream from outside “orion” cale says “go save him before he bleeds out” “fine but i don't want to” orion responds but when orion walks out he sees its just a cat “O my god your scared of a cat” orion says laffing taking jack back in the room.letter orion tells everyone how jack was scared of the cat.then they get some rest.that morning when they realize jack was gone.”we can't let him die!” gabby says “yes we can we just don't look for him “ orion says “one more negative comet about jack and you'll look for him yourself” cael says in anger.when the group gets there gear ready they head outside when they climb in the vent there was lots of blue fir and blood terrified they followed it.when they got to the end of the trail they see a drop out of the vent when they got out they saw they were in a old studio everything though was black and white and ink was everywhere. After looking around for a while they found bacon soup and a poster that said wilson the slayer of the ink demon.”¨ahh! What was that? ``Cale said, jumping back.''what do you mean"Orion responds "something just ran past my legs".Then a black goo spider jumped at gaby 'get off me! Get it off me!"she screamed "calm down "orion said, cutting it in half with a sword.then the black goo on the floor disintegrated.''wow what was that"braysan said, amazed. "Proof that we were not alone"cale said.``well then let's find the mastermind behind it"braysan said.``bet it's afton"Orion said.after a while of exploring they heard a sound it was laughing not from something funny just laughing like a crazy person. When they looked around the corner they saw jack on the floor in a ball laughing nonstop “we need to get him out of here” cale said slowly going towards jack but then an animatronic face opened up and started screaming at them “that's not jack”bryson said “ya this place must be here to scare and confuse us we need to go back to the shelter before we all go crazy” the group started heading back to the shelter when they cot to the shelter they all got food and went to sleep.``Thump!” what was that gabby said getting out of bed just to see no one was there where did they go gaby touht getting on a jacket heading out just to see all their bodys dead on the floor with jack and some burt rabbit suit standing next to him then she woke up “so should we go back to the mall again to find jack or to the mansion” they heard orion saying “we shouldn't look for jack” gabby said “why” cael responded “this dream i had yalls dead bodys were piled up outside and he was standing there with a burnt rabbit suit next to him” gabby said “i saw that rabbit suit at the mansion he tried to get in the room with us” bryson said.``then we should go do the mansion” cael said packing extra materials in his bag “maybe we could find who is in that rabbit suit” orion said. The group eventually got to the mansion and started exploring they saw the room in shreds the bed was ripped up the tvs ripped off the wall and claw marks in the wall the group headed down stairs and saw a body not anybody a child's body when they got closer the saw it was crying orion pulled his sword out and ask her “what's wrong are you hurt” the little kid said “he's coming” then they saw a burt rabbit suit standing where the kid was. The burt rabbit suit just tilted his head and started waveying at them then they saw jack. Jack was covered in blood with a knife in his hand smiling not like he was happy but like he was crazy then gabby screamed the group looked over and saw the kid dead on the floor with blood oozing out of it. “You monster” Orion said, pulling out a sword and taking a slash the head came off the suit just for them to realize that wasn't the real suit. Jack then charged at Orion with the knife Orion then stabbed him with a sword in the leg making him go to the ground. The group fled while hearing Jack scream in pain “we can't just leave him there” gabby said terrified as they ran “yes we can he just tried to murder us and he killed a child and he's not going to die just be in pain for a while” orion said. When the group got back to the base they all went to sleep.the next morning they woke up and got ready soon they went back to the mansion to see if jack was still there but he was not but the sword was on the ground covered in a green substance. Cael put the substance in a beaker and back in his bag. They headed back and tested what the substance was. It would only respond to heat by trying to get out.”I don't think that was jack you stabbed Orion” cael said. “What do you mean it was his face his body how” orion responded. This substance is alive and we saw the bunny suit was fake so what if jack was fake” cael said. “That makes science” gabby said. Then orion slashed the wall the substance ozzed out of it. “This is all fake” Orion screamed “all of it is”. “Calm down orion there must be a reason” then jack walked through the door fast orion stabbed him in the throat more of the substance oozing out of it and jack smiled before turning into a pile of the green substance. The ozz started crawling away

2023.06.10 16:10 sunshine_and_beans Recovery from Covid-induced hypertension -- is it possible?

Hi all -- have been lurking the hypertension sub since January, when I experienced a hypertensive crisis about six weeks after a "mild" case of the 'rona (vaccinated, recovered at home but it was obviously horrible, and also about 11 months postpartum, 32 years old). I'm wondering if anyone's had/having a similar experience. I had no history of high blood pressure, but woke up in the middle of the night gasping for air, passed out after standing up, and some other unpleasant symptoms. Responding paramedics reported my BP was 170/120.
After a few weeks of monitoring, my doc put me on 5mg of Lisinopril. I've done ok with the meds the past few months but have had sporadic situations of waking up in the night with palpitations, nausea/gastro distress, feeling shakey/the chills, and often limbs will feel heavy. I sporadically have some dull chest pain, which feels like a muscle ache under my left breast, as if I went too hard on arm day at the gym. Convinced it was the medication and with 2 weeks until a followup appointment, I experimented with cutting the tabs in half to take a 2.5 mg dose and self-monitoring. My blood pressures remained fantastic — in fact, slightly better than the full 5 mg dose. Describing this to my doc, she believes there's no way a 5mg pill could be causing these issues, and that a 2.5mg was essentially a placebo and likely "not doing anything." Maybe, at this point, my body chilled out from the effects of having C-19? I elected to do two weeks of no-med monitoring.
The first 3 days were great - waking up with readings around 110/63. I was jazzed. Bedtime readings have slowly crept up, starting at 115/78, 125/84, and then reaching 144/98. I don't get it. Out of precaution I popped that 2.5 mg dose of lisinopril until I can speak with the doc next week. But I'm at a point where even with more exercise, more water, and continuing a healthy vegetarian/non-processed diet that I'm afraid this is a permanent situation. And I'm pissed — this whole thing started out of the blue and it feels unfair (I know, welcome to the club). I'm also convinced Lisinopril isn't the right med for me, but the doc seems eager to switch to another ACE inhibitor (I'm of the believe that if one ACE inhib on a light dose is causing issues, won't they all?). I'm interested in something a little less intense like hydrochlorothiazide, but she seems hesitant because it doesn't have as great of "heart-protecting properties."
Sorry for this essay, but would love to hear the sub's thoughts, especially if you've had similar situations. I'm so dang discouraged. Thanks!

Starting Flavor Count: 2,429 (down from 2,972)
TASK OR TRASH - Each flavor gets assigned at least one task or it goes in the trash.

FLAVOUR ART

Violet
Yup, that’s violet. It tastes very, very violet, without being perfumy. It’s sweet, too, with some chalky sweetness especially in the finish, like a violet candy. It will get a little laundry-soapish with too much, so start low, but it will turn anything floral-purple long before that happens. I don’t get anything I would call an off-note from this.
I need it to make more Mango Beauregarde TASK 1, to make a modernized remix of my old Paradise Cream recipe, and because I want to try Violet Hops, and Jazz Hands (while I still have some Holy Vanilla). There really isn’t much else I want to mix that uses it.

Waffles Vanilla
That is certainly a waffle. There’s a hint of vanilla baked in but I don’t know that it really warrants having vanilla in the name, it’s just a touch. It’s a bit doughy like it’s undercooked but considering how bad some other waffle flavors are, this is definitely one of the better ones. Although it tastes undercookied and doughy in the center and is overall a creamy feeling flavor, it has the nice crispy edges of a waffle. It is a bit nutty if I think about it too hard, around the edges, but I didn’t take hit and immediately go “nuts.” Since the OG INW Waffle is now long gone, I think this is probably my favorite waffle flavor. There isn’t really anything I want (or am able) to mix that uses it, so I’ll just start simple with an attempt at a waffle with butter and maple syrup.
Justwaffle V1 TASK 2
FA Waffles Vanilla 2% FA Maple Syrup 1.5% VT Butter Base 1% VT Golden Syrup 1%

Walnut
Walnut milk? Walnut water? I don’t know, but this flavor is wet. Juicy. Or at least, very moist compared to other nuts. I think that throws the accuracy off quite a bit, but it’s a little more walnutty than WF Walnut. It has that earthy, somewhat sharp top note that I expected from a walnut right up front, but a sweeter, much less distinct nutty thick body that also throws it off of walnut a ways. The whole thing was oddly wet. Could be very useful to combat the dryness that is so ubiquitous with nuts, without being tempted to do something gross like add cactus to them.
I’ll mix some more 2 Flavor Banger with twice as much nicotine as I usually use, perfect for when there’s an open bar. TASK 3

Watermelon (Red Summer)
Sort of like a very authentic watermelon, but not, because it’s so dry. I mean, wetness is like a watermelon’s most defining characteristic. It’s got water right there in the name. This is like freeze-dried astronaut watermelon. It’s also thin and just sort of has that natural watermelon top note minus all wetness and some of the sweetness that makes a watermelon a watermelon. It’s not a bad flavor, but it needs a lot of help.
I have a handful of recipes already in the queue that use this one. Of course I will not be tossing one of the components to the original Strap-On and several variations that I’ve already planned to try and/or try again. One that hasn’t been put on the list yet but will be there now: Fuzzy Strap-On. TASK 4

Whipped Cream
This is my #2 Whipped Cream (OoO is #1). It’s very milky, it manages to very clearly be a dairy product without tasting remotely rancid, like homemade whipped cream. Very full and satisfying, with a lingering milkfat feel like whipped cream. Just a touch of vanilla. It’s a somewhat soft and subtle flavor, lending it an airy, fluffy feel, but not at all drying.
Already picked out at least four recipes that use it, here’s a couple more.
Kahlua Coffee - SSA Tiramisu. If you’ve tried it, you know. TASK 5
hard furry creamy. This one is rated TV MA for coconut violence, but I think I can handle it. TASK 6

Whisky
Cheap scotch with a big splash of apple juice and a cherry in it. I guess it kind of tastes like whisky. Has a little boozy bite there. It has some peat moss in it that makes it tastes a little bit like cheap scotch but, with a weird and fairly prominent fruity sweetness, somewhere between an apple and a cherry.
I have to keep this (for now) to try Kopel’s Fireside recipe again, so I’ll keep it a little longer than than to try his Castle Longer as well. TASK 7

White Grape
Eating freeze-dried white grapes while wearing a little too much perfume. Very jammy sticky sweet and mostly tastes like white grapes, but vapes pretty dry, or at least not wet and juicy like a grape or grape juice. Maybe needs to be fixed with just a little cactus? But, not sure about that because it already packs quite a floral wallop and cactus might amplify that. There’s a little tart tannic grape skin note that’s appropriate but that musky and slightly bitter floral right on top is unfortunate. I’d use this maybe in a small dose to try to make a “purple” flavor taste a little more like a real grape, as well as add that nice jammy sweetness to it, but not for anything else. Almost certainly not as the main flavor in a mix.
Nothing that uses this is something I want to try, and it’s about time I threw something away this week. TRASH 1

White Peach
It really very accurately, almost freakishly, emulates the difference between a classic yellow peach and a sweeter, sugary white peach. However, it’s a little thin, and a little dry, and I get some throat irritation from it. Gets a bit too sharp and floral if taken up too high, and can overtake a mix while still not being especially bold.
Although it can be a little tricky to work with, this is one of the greatest peach flavors by comparison.
I need it for one of my all-time favorites, Blue Eyes White Dragon TASK 8
I’ve already picked out about eight recipes that make use of it, including two I hope to find time to mix up today. I’ll also try Yet Another Peaches and Cream - just four flavors that look great together. TASK 9

Wine Champagne
Careful with this one. I tried 3-4% shake and vape because my 2% steeped sample was fairly weak and was weird, like rotten grapes. Possibly this just needs to stay a soft, background-type flavor. 2% is not rotten, just fermented. Isn’t fizzy. It’s more like white wine than champagne. Sweet-tart, almost but not quite vinegary tartness. It tastes even more like white wine than FA White Wine, which is more of a brighter white grape flavor, and a good one at that. This tastes too fermented to just be a white grape juice flavor, it’s definitely wine. Kinda gross as a single flavor, but seems like it could make a nice base for any kind of fruit wine and I’ve tried a recipe with watermelon where it did exactly that very well.
Old Dogs, Children and Watermelon Wine was the aforementioned recipe. I liked it very much when I tried it years ago, will give it another shot. TASK 10 It’s also in a Mango Champagne recipe I’ve already planned to try.

Wine White
Somewhere around halfway between a semi-sweet white table wine and white grape juice. Not floral at all. A little fermentedish, but not really boozy. Smooth. Lightly sweet. Not especially thin, more thick-ish. Not dry, actually slightly juicy. Really nothing to complain about here. Fairly light flavor at 1.5%, tastes like it could easily go higher % especially if it is to be the main flavor in a mix. Could easily pass for a bit of white grape flavor in a mix. Better than FA White Grape (that one’s too floral as well as a bit dry).
It’s not a bad flavor, but I can’t find a recipe I want to mix that uses it, and don’t feel inspired to create one. TRASH 2

Wow
Sort of tastes like a donut but more of a generic pastry, wrapped around a little bit of fruit that tastes distinctly red but not on point for any particular red fruit such as raspberry or strawberry. Sweet and complex, but also dry and thin, not a thick and rich pastry or especially gooey filling. Also, very slightly harsh. Maybe you could use it to build a fruit-filled donut, but both the donut part and the filling part will need a lot of help, and at that point it’s sort of a why bother type of situation unless maybe it’s a bridge-type of flavor, but arguably that’s not even something you’d want or need if you’re trying to get any separation between pastry and fruit layers.
I’ve planned to try Bite Me already because it looks fantastic, but had trouble finding anything else I really want to use WoW for. I guess I’ll try this Freak Show recipe, TASK 11, but I’m not super excited about it like I am for most of the recipes I link.

Ylang Ylang
I don’t think I’ve ever tried this. I’ll mix a sample at 0.75%. TASK 12

Yogurt
Hard TRASH 3 One of the top 10 worst flavors I have ever tried. It tastes like a company of athlete’s foot-suffering soldiers marching through a swamp of Miracle Whip, except that that would be very wet and squishy and this is dry and chalky. Aftertaste like I barfed an hour ago and it came out my nose and I still have a case of the stinky burnies. Worst of all, this abomination is a reformulation of a delicious FA Yogurt flavor that is no longer sold.
Zen Garden
Dry sweet basil with some dry sage in the background. Very Dry. Has a slight woody quality.
Keeping it to try Coconut Thai Remixed. I couldn’t find another recipe that I want to mix, but this one for Gin Blossom by CheebaSteeba has interesting elements and I want to see what just this one small piece of a the recipe tastes like.

Zen Suckle V1 TASK 13
TFA Honeysuckle 2.5% FA Aurora 1% FA Zen Garden 0.75%

Zeppola
It’s like you sprinkled a little spice blend on one of those powered sugar donuts to try to make it taste fancy. A cake donut with powdered sugar and an indistinct spice note like light nutmeg/cinnamon/maybe clove note. Indistinct warm spice note is not as prominent as it is in WF Deep Fried Pastry Dough but is quite present. Very sweet, dense, possibly fried (slightly oily mouthfeel but not a lot of greasy taste), not yeasty, cake donut because cake donuts get their rise from baking powder rather than yeast and there is no yeast here. A little dry. Lots of powdered sugar on top and in the finish, almost a sugar lips effect. People say the main or only problem with Zeppola is that it sticks out in a mix and they know when it’s in there… I think that’s more due to the spice note than any other defining characteristic. It’s a shame that’s in there because it would be so much better without it, but I know from recipes Zeppola can be a useful tool, even if it’s unfortunately not the Holy Donut Grail.
Most recipes that appear to pretend that weird spice note isn’t there or can be covered with just fruit donut really interest me at all, but if there is another spice added that probably covers it up/pulls it in a given direction, that’s another story. Cinnayum is one that I already plan to try, because it looks amazing.
Also:
On the subject of cinnamon rolls, Banana Cinnamon Rolls. TASK 14
Gooey Apple Pie - as long as 1% FLV Apple Filling is enough to make it just take like cinnamon and not that odd Zeppola spice, everything else here looks great. TASK 15
Double Glazed Apple Fritter, 1% WF Deep Fried Pastry Dough is sure to make it fritter-ish, but it looks like doubling down on odd spice blend. Hoping 1.2% Apple Filling saves this one. TASK 16

Note
Didn’t get rid of many flavors or give any updates this week, but I said I was going to get through the rest of FA and I’ve done that. Next week, I’ll dive into German Flavours. Definitely a bunch of trash there.

Note about the subreddit shutting down on Monday
When (if?) it comes back up, I’ll resume posting these here. In the meantime, I’ll continue posting them to my own profile, where I’ve already copy-pasted the first 46 installments. If someone has a better idea for where GRoMoMF can best trudge forward with or without Reddit, I’d be very happy to hear it.

2023.06.10 15:45 MyaaKar Hi everyone. Is this fin rot?

Hi everyone. Is this fin rot?
I took this guy from my niece that made him live in a small fishbowl and rarely does water changes. There were no filter and no heater. Im not an expert of betta fishes so please help me out. Im not currently using any betta drops or anti fungal medications since im scared that it would stress him out even more since he just moved in this new tank. For now, i do daily water changes and also dechlorinate the water after. He is now currently in a 5 gallon fish tank. And there is some live plants in there too

2023.06.10 15:44 bloomingbrandi Good water!

This could be a “no shit” for some but I’ve been struggling to find good water without always having to pay for the gallon jugs or bottles of water. It’s me and 2 huskies living out of a car so a lot of my water goes to them. It adds up and I try my hardest to save as much as I can when I can. So I started getting it from parks at the spicket that comes from the ground(which I just learned is called a “yard hydrant”) I’d fill my 3 water jugs with it and then I’d have water for about a day and a half to 2 days. The thing is I would get weird stares from the park rangers and others and I doubt the water coming out of it and through the thing was very clean plus tasted disgusting(and I’m not one of those people who are picky about water, I’ll drink it from a hose idc! This just would taste particularly bad). Then I accidentally stumbled upon this(check comments for picture) It’s only 50¢ for a gallon and $2.50 for 5 gallons. There’s an extra 10¢ charge if you use a card but it’s relatively cheap, clean, tastes great and has been a reliable source of water for me! Thought I’d share 🤷🏻‍♀️ this is outside of a cvs and you can go to “ primo “ website to see if there’s a refillable station near you

2023.06.10 15:14 VirtuousFool_ Instrument of Ill-Fate: A LitRPG Adventure [Chapter 03]

First
Chapter 03: First Level
Zaire settled himself on the couch, changing into a fair tunic. Ella was moving around from one room to another, pouring stuff into her bags, and handling the meal on the stove occasionally.
After finishing the meal, Ella packed it all in a carrier and put it in a large bag. She turned towards Faye's room.
"Faye, what's taking you so long?" She yelled. "The carriage is going to leave any minute now."
"Mum, it'll take me a couple more minutes," Faye replied from her room. "You can go ahead and stop the carriage from leaving. I'll be there in two minutes."
"You don't take me for your squire, girl," Ella retorted, but she did sling the bag over her shoulder and came before Zaire.
"I'll be back after settling everything at the academy," Ella continued. "It will take three or four days. Don’t try anything stupid while I'm gone. Eat your meals on time. If you can't cook, buy something from outside. You know where to find the coins."
Zaire nodded as his foster mom instructed him more.
"Stay safe, boy." Kissing him on top of the head, she was gone.
Zaire rested back on the couch, contemplative. Magic Academy, huh.
As Zaire was lost in thought, a figure emerged from the other room, dressed in a blue gown and with her hair styled in a cute ponytail. Although Faye went through her Maidenhood ceremony yesterday, she still seemed haughty and little as he remembered her.
Zaire could already imagine her becoming a superstar at the academy. Her charming exterior and unique traits are enough that minstrels would love to write songs about.
She came before him at a brisk pace, bit her lips and looked at him, considering. "I know this is your dream, but can't you be happy for me?"
"I am happy for you," Zaire assured her, meeting her gaze.
A mesmerising smile spread across Faye's lips. “We aren’t going to see each other often now," she told him. "I'll look for ways to solve your problem in the academy."
"You don't have to," Zaire said, considering how to tell her about the system. Well, that was another rabbit hole. Moreover, Faye hardly had much time on her hands, either. "It's not all about being a great mage."
"Really?" Faye perked her brows at him. "But I'm sure that was everything to you."
"I have new goals and prospects to think about now."
"You're not making sense."
"I usually don't, especially not on such an early morning," Zaire said, standing up. He hugged her and kissed the top of her head. “I’m going to miss you a lot, little sister.”
“I’m not little anymore,” Faye grumbled, but returned the hug.
“You are, to me,” Zaire laughed. "Anyway, don't you have a carriage to catch?"
"Oh, crap, Mum is going to kill me!" Faye gave him one last squeeze with all her might before shooting out of the house like a tomboy. "Don't be too hard on yourself and don't listen to others, especially not to that cow, Diana."
Zaire watched her figure disappear as another sigh escaped from his lips. They stayed together as far as his memories went. He always knew there would be a time when they would have to separate, but when the time came he still couldn’t get his head around it.
Thankfully, Zaire had other things to busy himself with. Now was a better time than ever to focus on training his Aether, how to grow it, and how to use it properly.
Zaire considered going into the study with all the books he had on Emerald Aether, but he found no need for it, thinking he had all of their context memorised and comprehended. It would be better for him to start with meditation, with that in mind, he crept to the pavement when the dawn barely broke.
Before starting he needed to have a few things straight. Simply killing monsters and wild beasts wouldn’t do to level up, he had to do it through casting spells on them. That’s the first way for mages to grow, though studying spellcraft, models, and truth about the universe helps as well.
With that, a frame of plan formed in his mind. Meditate, learn a couple of useful spells, and go hunting in the mountains. All three were in that chronological order.
Well, calling all that a plan was a big overstatement, but Zaire never had been big on the thinking part. You probably guessed that already when he scaled the temple walls and dipped into the Ascendent Pool without any prior plan or consideration.
Zaire meditated in the middle of the yard, as the sun peeked through the southern mountains. It took him about a quarter of an hour to fully grasp the minuscule amount of Aether he had within him. That was already quick, but he figured he would have been quicker if he had more Aether. Well, a high number in Control helped a lot in this.
[Congratulations! Aether Binding reached Level 1.]
The timely prompt reminded him that he was prepared for the next step. The only problem was that the meagre amount of Aether couldn't even let him practise the poorest of spells. Even the lowest of the [Magic Missile] would take 10 odd points of Aether, whereas he was barely left with 2.
He had plenty of control over his level, which was a win, he guessed. Sadly, even those unstructured spells would be more Aether than 10 points. [Magic Missile] was the lowest aether-hungry spell he had memorised. It was a structured spell with Level 1 binding and 6 flow lines. Suddenly, an idea formed in his head. What if he altered the spell model to work with 2 points of Aether?
What if he only works with just 1 flow line?
Obviously, he had no experience in this sort of thing, but then again, Aether worked on belief, perhaps he could manage a strong enough belief that it would work. It doesn’t hurt to try.
Zaire worked with the little Aether he had, altering the spell model of [Aether Missile] to work with barely 2 points of Aether. Zaire believed that the spell would work and formed the spell on his index fingers with only one flow line of aether.
Minutes passed, and the only change he noticed was transparent wisps of energy flowing out of his finger. With that he was out of Aether, thankfully, with 370 points in control he didn’t have to wait long for the 2 Aether to recover. It barely took four minutes, considering Aether recovery speed was a tenth of Control.
Zaire continued trying to cast with the interval of four minutes, though his casting hardly got better even if he clung to all his beliefs.
However, to his surprise, something unexpected expanded before his eyes on his eighth try.
[Would you like to learn the spell, Inferior Magic Missile?]
[Y N]
Zaire looked at the notification suspiciously and agreed to the system prompt.
[Magic Missile (Inferior) will cost 10 fate points. Please confirm your choice.]
[Confirm Decline]
Zaire had a thousand fate points, so he didn't cheap out on spending 10 of them to understand the spell better. Moreover, it was an inferior version of an inferior spell, perhaps it was exactly what he needed.
Zaire confirmed the prompt. The very next moment, an impaling pain prickled in his mind, but thankfully, it wasn't too difficult for him to shrug it off.
[Congratulations! You have learned Inferior Magic Missile.]
[Magic Missile:
Shoots a missile of raw energy.
Level: 0
Aether Cost: 2/cast Cooldown: 5 seconds, 185/day]
"Hmm," Zaire hummed in consideration. The spell model was just branded on his mind and probably his spirit as well, leaving him with much to consider about this. However, before Zaire could get deeper into it, another notification arrived in his sight, surprising him.
[Congratulations! You have learned your first spell. Your proficiency in Mage Route rises..]
[Your hidden route Mage reached Level 1. +2 Magic power, +1 Intuition, +1 Mental Power, +2 free attribute points]
[You have reached First Order.]
Zaire felt a warm, soothing energy bloom within him as he sprang to his feet. Aether surged within him and his mind refreshed in a matter of moments with an additional 20 points in Aether, which he received after the level-up boosted his Magic Power by 2 points.
"I didn't even cast a spell," he mumbled as he sat back down.
The first level was probably a freebie, he thought to himself. The next one would likely be more difficult.
Without much thought, Zaire readied himself to cast [Aether Missile]. He didn't need to prepare anything, he simply thought about it, and his Aether sprang into action, forming an unstable spell on top of his index finger. Zaire arched an eyebrow and tried to stabilise it, expending more Aether. The spell was structured into his soul, it resisted when Zaire tried to improvise the structure.
After a few seconds of struggle, he managed to alter it somewhat. The trick was to do it after the spell left the brand. A familiar prompt popped up yet again:
[Would you like to learn the spell, Magic Missile?]
It was the real deal this time, but Zaire dismissed it without consideration. He could simply form the spell with his Control. Why waste fate points on it? Moreover, he read that it wasn’t advisable to have too many soul brands. Not to mention, for a first-order individual, he could barely have 8 brands, including spells, skills, and abilities.
Besides, even if the altered spell wasn't instantaneous, he knew that he would eventually be able to cast it without issue after practising it hundreds of times. Zaire cast the spell, which shot towards the wall in the yard. It barely left a finger-deep mark.
[Lesser Magic Missile reached level 1.]
He barely spent around 10 Aether points on it, so it wasn't right for him to expect more than this. However, a few of these spells could easily take down an ordinary human.
As Zaire continued to practice, he noticed a group of four people dressed for a hunt strolling along the path. He recognised all four of them. The heaviest of them, Dorian, noticed him first.
"Oi, Zaire, working hard as always," Dorian said.

2023.06.10 15:00 girl_from_the_crypt Stuck on earth and looking for a job: We're summoning a sea goddess

If I’d had any idea that the same six ladies who had been cooking and serving me meals and beverages were secretly a coven, I… well, I probably would have kept going there anyways. We’d arranged to meet after hours together with my savior human and Elijah Carter to go down to the grotto. The witches were already waiting for us outside the unlit neon sign. They were wearing the same matching dresses that constituted their mildly out-of-date yet undoubtedly elegant diner uniforms. With them, swaying and light on his feet like a tiny golden bird, was Frankie Preston.
I skipped up to him to give him a hug. He rolled his eyes, then wrapped his arms around me rather tightly. “Hey Sunshine. Oh. He-ey,” he added to Nettie when she came up behind us. “We’re good, right?”
“I said so, didn’t I,” she replied evenly. “I gotta stick to my word now, for better or for worse.”
“You know, I like you just fine. I was being an asshole for no reason. It’s not gonna happen again.”
“It better not,” she said, shrugging sweetly while not bothering to hide the threatening undertone in her response.
“Right,” Rhonda chimed in, looking slightly uncomfortable. “I understand you got a nixie or mermaid needs rescuing…”
“Precisely. You’re sure this is manageable for your coven?” I ventured.
“I’m not sure about anything. But I told you we’d see what we can do.” She gave me a generous smile. “You’re getting the friends-and-family-discount.” She reached over to ruffle Fran’s hair. He groaned, then moved over to me to make room for Nettie as she sidled up to the ladies.
I slid my hand into his. He grinned. “Demanding, you.”
I withdrew. “Sorry.”
“Oh, brother,” he grumbled, snatching back my hand. “Sure stand out from this crowd tonight, don’t I?” he asked jokingly, nodding at the gathering.
“You stand out most of the time.” I perked up when Mae-Lynn pointed out another, decidedly taller figure approaching. Eli was wearing a longer coat, shielding himself from the nightly chill carried to us upon the breeze. His hands were buried in his pockets and his shoulders hunched, but a smile crossed his face nevertheless when he spotted us. "Good to see you. How've you been?"
I traded uncertain glances with Nettie, then Fran. "Busy," I concluded, answering for the three of us.
"I'm glad you came," my savior human supplied.
"I don't know if I can be of much use," he muttered, allowing her to wrap her arms around him for a moment.
Rhonda waved him off. "Sure you can. Let's get going, now that we're all here."
Our group began to head down to the beach. Dim moonlight illuminated our path through the streets and across the sandy expanse, guiding us along with the sound of tossing waves drawing nearer. The smell of salt hung heavily above us, the wind tugged on our clothes and tousled our hair. We were a strange procession as we climbed over the rocks and down to the mouth of the cave. Had anybody seen us, I wouldn't know what they'd have made of it. I glanced over at Nettie to find her shivering. Whether it was due to the crisp spring night temperature or the excitement of the moment I couldn't tell. Instead, I reached for her hand. "Are you alright?"
She gave me a wavering nod. Flicking on her lime green flashlight, she allowed the bright beam to cut through the darkness. Her thumb rubbed over the stickers adorning the shaft of the small torch—a piece of memorabilia from our early years. "I put those there," I reminded her, pointing them out.
"Oh, I know," she deadpanned. "That was the same week I gave you all those handicraft supplies. Never again. You know how long it took to pry off the dozens of googly eyes you glued to the toilet seat?"
"It was artful. I thought you'd like them."
She snorted, lightly batting my shoulder. "Of course you did." Her chest heaved as she took a deep, cleansing breath. "Okay. Let's go."
Elijah and I led the way ahead, the former carrying his own heavy flashlight which he kept trained on the ground at our feet. We tried to stay as close together as possible, wary of the slippery surface we were walking on. The further we proceeded, the more anxious we became. Eli hid it masterfully, the only thing that gave away his apprehension being the vein that bulged on his forehead. I could feel his tension, though. It was in his shoulders, the stiff way he held his neck, in the force of his grip on the torch. It almost looked like he was trying to crush it.
The witches appeared to be nowhere near as impressed. They moved forward with a relaxed sort of confidence, casually stepping over puddles in their paths as though they were merely skirting around tables at the diner. Their attitude was mirrored by Frankie. I couldn’t help but glance back at him over my shoulder every couple seconds, his wheat-blond locks bouncing around his head with each of his spirited steps. Nettie Peterson, hanging from my arm, followed my gaze and let out a low grunt. “That boy is entirely too cheerful right now,” she muttered, only to squeak when she nearly tripped over a small rock. “Lord, I hope you know where we’re going.”
“Sure we do,” Elijah replied from up front.
“Approximately,” I added.
We weaved our way through the tunnels, trying to recall the way to the corpse cave. Rhonda had told us she wanted to see Kit Sutton’s mother. In a strange way, I was looking forward to seeing the sleeping giantess again. Despite the horror she was surrounded with, her sight had left a deep impression on me. The coven was chatting to each other in the back, their hushed voices the only sound to break the otherwise clammy, uneasy silence. Until we heard it.
A voice carried through the darkness, sweet and bell-bright with a heated, gravelly undertone. Her song filled the washed out corridors, echoing off the rounded stone walls and riding the ripples of the lake we were currently passing by. The words were in a foreign tongue, but I would have recognized my roommate’s singing anywhere.
Nettie tensed up, her arm around mine turning to stone. I could hear the hitch in her breath, taking note of the way her eyes grew wide in the lamplight. Our whole group had come to a halt in the middle of the large cave room, glancing about in awe as we tried to locate the source of the voice. It sounded like it was coming from everywhere at once, an omnipresent melancholy with just the hint of a fury in it. Like a calm, slow river with a strong, rapid undercurrent. I listened in rapture, my gaze fixed on my savior human’s elegant profile. Her lower lip trembled ever so slightly, its gloss capturing the warm sheen.
"Kit!" she suddenly called out.
The song broke off, leaving only eerie silence.
"Are you there?" my best friend shouted again, her voice nearly breaking.
Everything was still for another beat. Then we heard stones shift and clatter, followed by naked feet slapping the wet ground. We turned around, and there, standing beneath the arch of one of the side tunnels, was Kit Sutton. Nettie let out a sharp cry, broke free from my hold and ran towards her, wrapping her arms around the taller woman's neck. Kit stared down at her in shock before throwing her arms around her, burying one hand in her long, dark coils of hair and pressing the other to the small of her back. Anabel, who works the kitchen at the diner, let out a soft coo. We stayed back for the two of them to have their moment before my savior human eventually disentangled herself.
"You're very wet," she told Kit, inspecting her now damp sweater.
My roommate's lips curled. "I mean, you hugged me pretty close, so…"
Nettie smacked her upper arm. "Idiot," she whispered, her tone warm and gentle.
The smile faded from Kit's face as her eyes roamed the small crowd, settling on me. "What are you doing here? I told you not to come back, and now you've actually brought more people?"
"Kit, this is the coven from the diner. Coven, this is the water spirit I told you about." I turned to Rhonda, who nodded and took a step forward.
"We came to see if we can't do something about your situation," she told her.
Kit scrunched her brows. "You guys are a coven?"
"They are," I supplied. "And they managed to hold off my stalker with their magic so they're pretty serious about it. That reminds me; I have a stalker now. Anyways, they want to see your mom."
My roommate looked beyond skeptical. "You know this is dangerous, right?"
Hailey groaned. "Girl, we've been in this for a long-ass time. Either you let us see what we can do or you don't, but don't think for a moment that we're ignorant."
Kit threw up her arms. "Fine. Come along then. I warned you."
She started marching ahead, her impossibly long hair trailing behind her like a veil. Nettie had to be careful not to step on it as she walked alongside her, the two having linked hands. When we reached the corpse room, my savior human looked like she was about to faint. The sight once again sent a cold chill down my spine and I instinctively looked over at Eli Carter. His face was scrunched up, his brows knitted as he attempted to keep his eyes trained on the ground. Frankie on the other hand appeared to be rather interested, his gaze roaming the hall. The coven didn’t seem to care whatsoever, instead following Kit to the water hole where the enormous statuesque creature was resting.
“Woah,” Nettie said eloquently as she leaned over to look into the depths of the pond. “That’s your mom?”
Kit Sutton gave a brief, unspirited nod. “She is, actually. Quite a bit bigger than me but yeah. Well, I don’t see how this is—” She fell silent when the six ladies started to round the pit, exchanging knowing glances as they reached for each others’ hands. “What? What now, what are we doing?” she stammered, taking a step back and slightly raising her barnacle-covered arms.
Hailey turned to her with an encouraging smile. “We could wake her up. I really think we could.”
For a moment, she didn’t respond. “You think that’d help?” she then asked.
“Would it help to have a giant sea goddess up against your father?” Rhonda deadpanned. “Of course it would. He clearly had a problem with her, else he wouldn’t have done that. He felt threatened, most likely. You might not be able to fight back against him yourself, but she ought to tip the scales.”
“Great idea,” Frankie said, earning a proud nod from the older waitress. “It’s a good rule of thumb. If you’re too weak, you just find someone strong and scary to hide behind.” He beamed at me. “You’re so pretty, Eva.”
Kit snorted, looking a little more at ease but still uncertain. “You guys know I’ve actually never spoken with her, right? What if she’s, like, feral? Maybe she won’t want to help me; she could just make things worse.”
“Worse?” Nettie Peterson blurted out. “Girl, you’re grounded for a hundred years! It doesn’t get much worse than that.”
“Good point.”
“Glad we agree,” Mae-Lynn crisply chimed in. “Okay now, everyone join hands, go on.” She reached out for us and we gathered around the pool. Nettie entwined her fingers with mine on my left while Aliyah, the oldest of the witches from the looks of it, took her place on my right. She told Frankie to stay out of the circle, giving him an apologetic smile as she sent him off to wait on the side. “Sorry, sweetie,” she told him over her shoulder. “But having an inorganic link might disturb the chain.”
“So what now?” Elijah asked.
“All of you just close your eyes and clear your minds. Don’t think of anything, like you’re meditating. You’ve got to stay calm. I’m gonna borrow what I energy I can from your minds and use it for the big girl,” Rhonda told us, pointing her chin at the motionless giantess in the water down below. “Now, what Blue here says is true, so if this works, we’ll just all bolt, okay? We wake up the water queen and then we leg it.” She nodded to Kit. “You have the best chances at dealing with her on your own. I’m optimistic overall but she’s been locked inside her own body for God knows how long. She’s likely to be confused and we don’t want to make her feel ganged up on.”
“That actually makes sense,” my roommate conceded, brightening up a bit.
“Everybody ready?” Rhonda asked, receiving scattered nods and mumbles of affirmation. Bracing herself, she rolled her shoulders and proceeded to raise her voice, beginning to murmur something I could not understand. It sounded like a human language, but not any one that I knew. My heart was beginning to beat a little faster, her rhythmic cadence reminding me of the beating of a drum. I couldn't help it. I took a peek at Rhonda, my stomach sinking when I saw her face.
Her eyes were wide open and had rolled back into her head, leaving only the white to fill the eerie, void spaces. Her body was trembling as if there were invisible hands shaking her by the shoulders. The veins and arteries on her face and neck were standing out, weirdly discolored. The longer I looked at them, the darker they became until eventually turning black entirely. They were pulsating, the blood pumping through them at a powerful, forcible pace.
I pressed my eyes shut once more, trying to clear my mind despite the image sticking with me. Focus on nothing, focus on nothing…
It turned out to be quite difficult. I've never tried to actively empty my head before, not like this. Something always kept popping in, disturbing the peace up there. Unwanted thoughts of Jewel's tears, the Devourer Of Worlds, my intestines quelling from my stomach pushed their way into the void I was trying desperately to create. When it wasn't that, it was the image of Frankie's beautifully coordinated movements. I briefly allowed my eyes to flutter open once again to turn and sneak a glance at the waiter. He was sitting cross-legged on the rocky ground, busy tossing pebbles at the slimed-up corpses to see if they stuck. Forcing myself to concentrate, I tried to picture what "nothing" would even look like.
Probably all black. Light had to be absent after all. Endless; no ceiling, no floor, nothing to stand on and nothing overhead. Nothing to hear, see, smell or feel. Nothing at all; nowhere.
Around me, I felt the air in the room beginning to heat. The grating of stone upon stone penetrated my ears in the most uncomfortable way, but this time, I was determined not to muck it up. My facial muscles straining as I clenched my lids and mouth shut, I tried to ignore the sound of water beginning to bubble nearby. The pond was hissing as if it were a pot of boiling soup, splashes and dripping noises overtaking the silence. Rhonda's voice rose higher and higher, bouncing off the hollowed cavern walls and coming back with three times the volume. Goosebumps threatened to break out on my arms, the hairs on the back of my neck already standing up. I had lost my sense of space—I had no idea who was standing beside me anymore, I could barely feel their hands in mine; their touch was a foreign sensation I was only distantly aware of.
There truly was nothing there. Nothing but Rhonda's chanting. It filled every nook and cranny of my mind, coming from everywhere around me. My pulse was fluttering as if dancing to its rhythm. My heart was pounding like a drum to the best of its cadence. A faint sense of panic was whispering to me at the edge of my conscience, but it was unable to perturb the nothing. There was a veil before my inner eye that could not be lifted anymore.
And then, all of a sudden, one of the hands I was holding was wrenched from my grasp as a scream interrupted the incantative chorus. "Run!" Rhonda cried out.
My eyes flew open, instantly coming to rest on the pond. The water's surface was bulging, looking like a stretched out balloon about to burst. It formed a strained, blue dome, as from beneath it, two enormous hands rose to break its ceiling.
"She's coming!" Kit yelled out, her face a contorted grimace of hope and horror. "Get out of here! Hurry!" Shoving Nettie and Eli towards the exit, she rallied our group.
Frankie had jumped up and snatched my hand, already dragging me into the direction of the corridor. I craned my neck to look behind me, only for him to pull harder. "This room is gonna be flooded in, like, a moment! You wanna drown?" my waiter shouted, largely into my ear. I was still a bit dazed, the mental fog from the ritual not yet having let up. I really didn't have the time to come to, though. The ground was shaken by a sudden, massive earthquake. The walls began to shudder, drops of water raining down on us from all sides along with tiny pebbles coming loose from up above.
"Get out of here!" Kit bellowed, her voice so loud it came close to cracking.
Rhonda and the rest of her coven were already crowding the mouth of the cave room, racing out into the tunnel single file. I, Frankie and Elijah followed on their heels, the latter ducking his head as he slipped through the opening. Nettie kept looking back over her shoulder. I yelled her name at the same time as Kit shouted at her to leave. Eli Carter was already fumbling with his flashlight and grabbed her wrist with his other hand to drag her into the corridor with us. "You need to—"
"I know," she interrupted him, tearing herself loose and breaking into a sprint.
And thus, we ran. Somehow, it was a lot easier to find the way back than I'd expected. Before I even had the time to process the twists and turns in our path, we were already standing outside the cave again. The stale air from inside was replaced with the fresh smell of salt and the roaring of restless waves. My heart was pounding like a sledgehammer, my blood singing in my veins.
"We can't stay here," Eli hollered as he emerged behind us. "When that thing stands up, the whole cave is gonna break in! Move!"
Nettie Peterson let out a high-pitched whine but readily hurried along as the ten of us scrambled up the sand and boulders, away from the grotto and the shore. We finally came to a halt a safe distance away on one of the cliffs, overlooking the scene. For a moment, the only sound disrupting the nightly symphony was our joint heavy breathing.
Then the sound of massive rocks shifting and cracking reached our ears. From the grotto, a vibration spread through the ground all the way over to where we were standing. The mouth of the cave began to crumble, bits of stone falling down and sealing the opening. Then the whole cave began to split. My savior human grabbed onto my arm, her fingernails digging into my skin. "She'll be okay, right?"
"For sure," I said, ignoring my pulse thrumming in my ears.
Time to call Mary Markov again.

Help with cucumbers
These Poinsett Cucumbers were planted well over 70 days ago. Getting plenty of sun and water. Possibly too much water. There are three of them in a 5 gallon pot.
I just tasted one and it tasted fine but obviously they are fat and yellow and they still have spikes. What did I do wrong? Should they not be on the ground? Not enough miracle gro?

2023.06.10 14:08 Queasy_Activity2247 Algae battle

I have a planted 20 gal freshwater tank with a mix of sand and gravel that’s about 2.5 months old. I’ve been battling algae for at least the last month. It’s become the scourge of my existence at this point. As the kids and I were super excited about the new project, we started out with a pretty crowded tank. I cycled the tank for only about 36 hours before the fish arrived but I added all the supplements and starters and what have you. Anyhow, we lost a lot of fishy in the beginning. Which prompted, buying more fish of course! I had started to see a lot of brown algae, which research told me was normal for a new tank. So I planted more plants, got a filter insert for reducing algae and upped my game on the water changes. About the time it was time to replace a couple fish, we brought home a small pleco, and a couple more fish, one being a hefty silver dollar (they are my favorite alongside guoramis so far) anyway this big ol boy ended up developing ich and I noticed the white spots a few days after he came home which began to appear on the other fish. So… I treated the tank for ich using the tetra ick guard tabs. They worked great on the ich. We did lost a few more fish, including the new pleco :( but it cleared up and hasn’t been back. I had to remove the filter carbon for the treatment, and this ( I can only assume) almost immediately led to green, very murky water. I couldn’t even see the fish, or barely anything in the tank. So fast forward, with water changes and some admittedly heavy handed use of a water clarifier, I’ve gotten the water very close to clear, but it will only be that way for a few days before it starts to murk back up with what is some kind of green algea I believe. I’m new to this hobby, so it’s all google searches. Anyway… I’ve read sometimes it just has to be waited out… but I just can’t bring myself to do nothing. I feel that it bears mentioning that during the ich treatment when the water was too dense to see into, a good handful of the fish we lost were never recovered, still to this day. I’m open to the possibility of all the “nutrients” from those poor lost fishy souls feeding this out of control algae , but I’ve done several 30% or so water changes since. Is that still plausible? I’ve also read to plant more plants to compete with the algae, but my two silver dollars have eaten a good third of what I’ve planted in there. I can’t seem to keep any ground cover safe. I can’t just keep dumping money into this tank which is what I feel like I’m doing. And time babying this tank is a premium around here because I’ve got two small children and my husband is gone most of the time. I haven’t made any new additions, deciding to get this under control before I do. And I'm barely feeding the remaining fish, not wanting to feed the algae too. I want to just dump some algae control in there and call it a day but I have one blue shrimp who is a founding member of the tank and I’m very partial to her. As for the others, we’re left with a little flying fox, the blue shrimp, two silver dollars and a little black skirt tetra. Anyway, please help me, any advice is welcome.

2023.06.10 13:48 rrooaaddiiee Evolution of a GRT

Did an event a couple weeks ago with a notoriously tough Cadre. As is typical, people gathered starting an hour early. Lots of conversation, introductions, etc. New guy showed with lot of enthusiasm. Happy to be there. Very likable.
The Welcome Party was no joke. Deck of Cards + a full Murph. Two dudes who'd signed up a week prior and "just thought it was an all-night ruck" exited after about 30 minutes.
Early during the first movement I noticed New Guy not really pitching in. Not unusual as they observe the team dynamics, how the load is shared, etc, etc. We had a crap-ton of stuff to carry and any help was appreciated. After a couple hours, I noticed he was favoring a 25 pound sand kettlebell. OK, that's fine.
At a certain point, you can spot the grey men who don't step up and stay silent when someone calls for help. That's when it becomes an issue. New Guy had switched to the team weight, a pair of combat boots that either had cement in them or some sort of substance to create the weight. When he called out, "can I get a swap on the team weight?", it drew laughter. There was a 200 pound bag being shared, a 120, a bunch of 100's, a 5 gallon jerry can of water, water jugs, and sand jerry cans.
But then the transformation began. During a break, I, and a couple others, kinda/sorta mentioned that pitching in with one of the larger coupons if even for 100 yards would provide some relief to a weary teammate. Every little bit matters, especially late in the event when everyone is smoked. Something clicked.
New guy started to step up. Took the 100. Shared the 120. Rotated quickly. Jumped in when someone asked for relief. It was that transformative time when he went from surviving the event to becoming a real teammate. To me, that's when the magic happens: late in the night when everyone is hurting and the team either coalesces or falls apart. We came together and New Guy was part of it.
Not sure if I'll run across him again but he became a GRT that night.

2023.06.10 13:33 VeryBigdDick prompt

Prompt Engineering. This prompt book will help you learn essential building blocks and
all the techniques to master Stable Diffusion.
The secret for generating good images
A well-written prompt consisting of modifiers and a good
sentence structure. We will also show you all types of modifiers and some magic words.
Well-adjusted Stable Diffusion weights. You can
always use the default, but sometimes fine-tuned weights can generate better results.
This will strengthen your ability to
bring your creative dream images to life.

Prompt keyword weighting is supported. You can increase the attention of a keyword but not higher than 1.5.
Use the format (example:weight). By default, words have a coefficient of 1 (example: 0.4), they will have a lower priority.

Attention for words Technique:
Adding "()" in the prompt increases attention to enclosed words, while "[]" decreases it. You can combine multiple modifiers:
- a (word) - increase attention to word by a factor of 1.1
- a ((word)) - increase attention to word by a factor of 1.21 (= 1.1 * 1.1)
- a [word] - decrease attention to word by a factor of 1.1
- a (word:1.5) - increase attention to word by a factor of 1.5
- a (word:0.25) - decrease attention to word by a factor of 4 (= 1 / 0.25)

You can also use a few words in "()" and "[]". You can also use a few words in "()" and "[]".

Also you can still use this structure: (example, example :weight), so the weight will increase for several words at once.
Examples: (grayscale, woodcut:1.2); (((blue hair, floating hair, liquid hair, chromatic aberration))); (rutkowski, artstation:0.8); (masterpiece, best quality:1.4); [cute, volumetric fog]

Please note that to increase or decrease the weight of several words, you need to put a comma between them.

Start by asking a list of questions
  1. Do you want a photo or a painting?
  2. What’s the subject of the photo? Person? An animal or perhaps a landscape?
  3. What details do you want to add?
a) Special Lighting. Soft, ambient, ring light, neon

b) Environment. Indoor, outdoor, underwater, in space

c) Color Scheme. Vibrant, dark, pastel

e) Point of view. Front, Overhead, Side

f) Background. Solid color, nebula, forest

  1. In a specific art style? 3D render, studio ghibli, movie poster
  2. A specific photo type? Macro, telephoto

This is not an all-inclusive list, but will help you get great results when you start.
your prompt crafting journey.
Answer the following questions:
  1. Do you want a photo or a painting? => painting
  2. What’s the subject of the photo? Person. animal, landscape. => a goldendoodle
  3. In a certain camera position? side view, from bottom, from above, from behind => from behind
  4. What details do you want to be added? => suit

a. Special Lighting. Soft, ambient, ring light, neon => natural light

b. Environment. Indoor, outdoor, underwater, in space => in the sky

c. Color Scheme. Vibrant, dark, pastel => with bright colors

  1. In specific art style? 3D render, studio ghibli, movie poster => by Studio Ghibli

The order of words is important
The order and presentation of our desired output is almost as an important aspect as the vocabulary itself. It is recommended to list your concepts explicitly and separately than trying to cramp it into one simple sentence.

The keyword categories are:

  1. Subject: what you want to see in the image, such as a person, an object, a scene, etc.
  2. Medium: the material used to make the artwork, such as illustration, oil painting, realistic, anime, 3D rendering, etc.
  3. Style: the artistic style of the image, such as impressionist, surrealist, pop art, etc.
  4. Artist: the name of a specific artist or multiple artists whose style you want to emulate or blend.
  5. Website: the name of a niche graphic website that aggregates images of a certain genre, such as Artstation or Deviant Art.
  6. Additional details: any other modifiers that can enhance the image, such as sci-fi, stunningly beautiful, dystopian, etc.
  7. Color: the overall color or tone of the image, such as iridescent gold, pastel pink, etc.
  8. Lighting: the effect of light and shadow on the image, such as cinematic lighting, soft lighting, dark, dark shot, bright, etc.

You don’t have to include keywords from all categories. You can use them as a checklist to remind you what could be used.
A negative prompt is a way to tell the neural network what should not be in the image. You can use words or phrases that describe what you want to avoid or exclude from the image. You can also use weights in negative prompt to increase or decrease the effect of certain words.

Generally accepted negative prompt is considered: (deformed, distorted, disfigured:1.3), poorly drawn, bad anatomy, wrong anatomy, extra limb, missing limb, floating limbs, (mutated hands and fingers:1.4), disconnected limbs, mutation, mutated, ugly, disgusting, blurry, amputation.

Realistic negative prompt: overexposed, (deformed iris, deformed pupils, semi-realistic, cgi, 3d, render, sketch, cartoon, drawing, anime:1.3), text, close up, cropped, out of frame, worst quality, low quality, jpeg artifacts, ugly, duplicate, morbid, mutilated, extra fingers, mutated hands, poorly drawn hands, poorly drawn face, mutation, deformed, blurry, dehydrated, bad anatomy, bad proportions, extra limbs, cloned face, disfigured, gross proportions, malformed limbs, missing arms, missing legs, extra arms, extra legs, fused fingers, too many fingers, long neck.

For positive prompt and negative prompt, I have thought of universal keywords - styles. You may not find them in the examples because they are new. Almost every style has a Negative prompt. It is advisable to write it together with positive prompt.

An example of how to use styles if you want to create a cat image in a Professional photo style:
  1. Positive prompt: (dark shot:1.4), 80mm, cat, soft light, sharp, exposure blend, medium shot, bokeh, (hdr:1.4), high contrast, (cinematic, teal and orange:0.85), (muted colors, dim colors, soothing tones:1.3), low saturation, (hyperdetailed:1.2), (noir:0.4)

  1. Negative prompt: neon, (deformed, distorted, disfigured:1.3), poorly drawn, bad anatomy, wrong anatomy, extra limb, missing limb, floating limbs, (mutated hands and fingers:1.4), disconnected limbs, mutation, mutated, ugly, disgusting, blurry, amputation, over saturated

For example, if you want to generate an image of a girl with Natural skin:

  1. Positive prompt: girl, (natural skin texture, hyperrealism, soft light, sharp)

  1. Negative prompt: (cgi:0.9), (deformed, distorted, disfigured:1.3), poorly drawn, bad anatomy, wrong anatomy, extra limb, missing limb, floating limbs, (mutated hands and fingers:1.4), disconnected limbs, mutation, mutated, ugly, disgusting, blurry, amputation, 3d, illustration, cartoon, (doll:0.9)

Here are completely universal styles that you can combine and use in your prompt(I highly recommend using them!):

Professional photo:
  1. Positive prompt for Professional photo: (dark shot:1.4), 80mm, {POprompt}, soft light, sharp, exposure blend, medium shot, bokeh, (hdr:1.4), high contrast, (cinematic, teal and orange:0.85), (muted colors, dim colors, soothing tones:1.3), low saturation, (hyperdetailed:1.2), (noir:0.4)

  1. Negative prompt for Professional photo: neon, {NEprompt}, over saturated

Natural skin:
  1. Positive prompt for natural skin: (natural skin texture, hyperrealism, soft light, sharp)

  1. Negative prompt for natural skin: (cgi:0.9), 3d, illustration, cartoon, (doll:0.9)

Details:
  1. Positive prompt Details: (intricate details:0.9), (hdr, hyperdetailed:1.2)

Gloomy style:
  1. Positive prompt for gloomy style: complex background, stuff in the background, highly detailed, (gloomy:1.3), dark, dimmed, hdr, vignette, grimy, (slate atmosphere:0.8)

  1. Negative prompt for gloomy style: (depth of field:1.3), (bokeh:1.2), (blur), blurred, pink

Cinematic style:
  1. Positive prompt for Cinematic style: (cinematic look:1.4), soothing tones, insane details, intricate details, hyperdetailed, low contrast, soft cinematic light, dim colors, exposure blend, hdr, faded, slate gray atmosphere

  1. Negative prompt for Cinematic style: grayscale, black and white, bw, monochrome

Horror cinematic style:
  1. Positive prompt for horror cinematic style: slate atmosphere, cinematic, dimmed colors, dark shot, muted colors, film grainy, lut, spooky

Cinematic art style:
  1. Positive prompt for Cinematic art style: art by greg rutkowski and artgerm, soft cinematic light, adobe lightroom, photolab, hdr, intricate, highly detailed, (depth of field:1.4)

Engraving style:
  1. Positive prompt for Engraving style: (grayscale, woodcut:1.2), (etching:1.1), (engraving:0.2), {prompt}, detailed

  1. Negative prompt for Engraving style: colored

Epic painting:
  1. Positive prompt for Painting: rutkowski, intricate digital art, soothing tones, (cartoon:0.3), (art:1.4), epic realistic, faded, neutral colors, (hdr:1.4), (muted colors:1.4), (intricate), (artstation:1.5), dramatic, intricate details, (technicolor:0.9), detailed, intricate, cinematic, detailed

2023.06.10 12:28 TinyFlan4013 "Sustainable clothing brand Patagonia manufactures in the same factories as fast-fashion; textile workers are being exploited"

The Dutch independent investigative journalism platform 'Follow the Money' wrote a article about Patagonia.
"Sustainable clothing brand Patagonia manufactures in the same factories as fast-fashion; textile workers are being exploited"
Clothing brand Patagonia seems to be doing everything right: for its employees, for the people who make the clothes and for the environment. The company’s image – they say they’re in business to save our home planet – is very different from fast-fashion brands like asos, Primark and Nike. But Patagonia’s clothes are manufactured in exactly the same factories and under the same deplorable conditions.
When Yvon Chouinard started creating climbing equipment in his parents’ backyard in Burbank, California, he used steel. Soon he earned a reputation for making the ‘best’ climbing equipment in America. But every time a climber slammed one of those steel pegs into a rock, the gap got a little bigger and eventually unusable. Chouinard realised he was making money by destroying the rocks and therefore also the sport. And so he switched to aluminium blocks, which did not damagethe rocks.
The change was expensive and risky for the young company, but the moral dilemma was reason enough for Chouinard to implement the change. And to be very outspoken about it. It was a success: within a year, 40 per cent of the US climbing community stopped using steel.
Chouinard applied this experience when he started the outdoor brand Patagonia in 1973. He wanted to make only high-quality clothing that would last. And limit the impact on the environment as much as possible. In 1996, the brand switched to 100 per cent organic cotton, only to increasingly replace it with recycled materials. But the responsibility that Chouinard attributed to the company extended further.
In 2002 he decided to give one per cent of sales to environmental organisations every year. In 2011, Patagonia placed a full-page ad in the New York Times calling on consumers to ‘not buy this jacket’ in order to draw attention to the problematic nature of overconsumption in the clothing industry.
In addition, the clothing had to be manufactured fairly: in 2012, the top of the company made paying living wages to everyone who makes Patagonia products a ‘priority’. In 2020, Patagonia launched a campaign encouraging consumers to demand more from clothing brands: ‘Demand recycled. Demand organic. Demand Fair Trade,’ Patagonia urged its viewers.
In 2022, the then 84-year-old Chouinard caused worldwide astonishment, when he gave away 98 per cent of his shares to a newly formed NGO, the Holdfast Collective, which is ‘committed in its fight against the environmental crisis and protecting nature.’ Henceforth, the company’s profits would no longer flow to himself or his children but to the climate. ‘Earth is now our only shareholder,’ Chouinard said. Billionaire gives company away to climate, newspapers like The New York Times, The Washington Post and The Guardian reported*.*
This construction saved the NGO an estimated 700 million dollars that Chouinard would have had to pay in tax if he had sold the company and donated the proceeds to the same NGO. But according to Chouinard, this option allowed him to do something else: protect Patagonia’s values. Because he did not give the voting shares to Holdfast Collective but to a family trust. This allows his family to continue determining the company’s direction.
The company’s turnover – its European headquarters are in Amsterdam − grew by more than 50 per cent that year to about 1.5 billion dollars.
The actions earned Patagonia an image as being the ultimate sustainable frontrunner. In April, Time Magazine named Chouinard one of the world’s 100 most influential people. ‘Patagonia is a company people look up to in awe,’ the magazine wrote.
The complete opposite of Patagonia is a company like Primark. The Irish retail chain is known for selling on-trend low-quality clothes at low prices. Its revenue model is based on mass: high volumes with low margins.
Primark continuously creates new garment collections designed to be worn only a few times, after which they fall apart. The company uses advertising, clearance sales and influencers to urge consumers to keep buying as much as possible.
Media regularly report on the subsequent consequences. One, in particular, is that the people who make the clothes suffer from high production pressure at low cost. ‘Primark supplier accused of locking up factory workers in Myanmar protests,’ The Guardian headline read in 2021. That same year, The Clean Clothes Campaign NGO wrote: ‘Primark uses pandemic to put further pressure on factory workers in manufacturing countries.’
Patagonia and Primark seem like two extremes on the slow versus fast-fashion spectrum. Yet the brands have something in common. Some of their clothing is manufactured in the exact same factory.
PATAGONIA IN AMSTERDAM In 2014, Patagonia moved its European headquarters from Annecy town in the French Alps to Amsterdam. Reflecting on this, current CEO Ryan Gellert told the city marketing website I Amsterdam: ‘We established headquarters here in 2014 because we wanted a place where we could attract and retain pan-European and global talent, [...] and where there was an active community working on sustainability issues. As we searched potential locations across Europe, Amsterdam remained high on our list.’
According to Tax Law Professor Jan van de Streek, tax benefits may also have played a role in the choice of the Netherlands. This is because Patagonia did not register in the Netherlands as a BV but as a cooperative with two US members: Patagonia International Inc and Patagonia Global LLC. ‘Why choose something as strange as a cooperative structure?’ Van de Streek remarks to Follow the Money. ‘Because it is exempt from dividend tax. I think it’s naive to think there’s any other reason for that.’
Responding to questions about this, Patagonia said: ‘Since its inception, Patagonia Europe Coöperatief has paid regular corporate income taxes in all European countries where we do business, including the Netherlands, and has never used the tax efficiencies of a cooperative.’
‘At the suggestion of our advisors', Patagonia chose a cooperative structure ‘because it's the most flexible type of entity that suited our business purpose. However, Patagonia has chosen not to pursue any of the tax advantages available under the cooperative entity type. Patagonia Europe has not paid dividends to its parent company.'

‘No difference’

That factory is called Regal Image and is located in Sri Lanka. To be precise, in the Free Trade Zone of Katunayake, less than two kilometres from the international airport. The industrial estate is guarded 24/7 by Sri Lankan police. Access is only possible with a special pass.
In the factory hall, there are long tables with pieces of white fabric on them. An employee walks past with sea-green paint and a stencil forming the letters ‘asics’. Further along, a machine prints a grey logo on a purple tank top for Decathlon.
‘So far, we don’t really notice any difference between working with Patagonia and working with Primark or Decathlon,’ says Kevin Fernando. Fernando is the manager at the factory, which dyes, prints or embroiders logos and prints on fabrics. Regal Image was recently approved as a supplier to Patagonia, a process that took nine months. Fernando shows the designs for the 2024 summer collection. Light blue fabric features ‘Patagonia’ in pink letters, and a rainbow is printed on orange fabric.
‘Like most clothing companies, we do not make our products, nor do we own any of the factories that do,’ Patagonia writes on its website about the decision to outsource the manufacturing process. ‘We design, test, market and sell Patagonia gear. These are our areas of strength. We pay other companies [...] to produce fabrics and do the actual cutting and sewing.’

‘No control over working conditions’

Patagonia promises to only partner with factories that are ‘like-minded’ and who share their ‘philosophy.’ Patagonia has found sixty-one suitable factories: two in the US, one in Portugal and the remainder in 12 different low-wage countries. The bulk of the products are made in Vietnam and Sri Lanka.
At least two-thirds of the factories that manufacture Patagonia clothing also work for clothing brands that, according to the consumer website Good on You, have little or no sustainability policies in place (Patagonia itself is touted by Good on You as sustainable). This is evident from an analysis by Follow the Money based on data from Open Supply Hub, which aims to make supply chains in the clothing industry more transparent.
One day people make clothing for Patagonia, and the next day, they make items for brands such as GAP, Levi Strauss, Calvin Klein, Hugo Boss, Tommy Hilfiger, Nike, Amer Sports, Asics, US department store chain Target, e-commerce platform Amazon, supermarket Aldi and fast-fashion icons ASOS, Boohoo, H&M and Zara.
‘How is this possible?’ visual culture professor Anneke Smelik responds. Smelik researches sustainable fashion at Radboud University. ‘I know Patagonia as the most sustainable brand out there. I expected them to manufacture in small factories close to home. This means they have absolutely no control over working conditions.’
PATAGONIA IN SRI LANKA Patagonia works with 14 factories in Sri Lanka that are part of (or partner with) two companies: MAS Holdings and the Hirdaramani Group.
MAS Holdings was founded in 1987 by three brothers: Mahesh, Ajay and Sharad Amalean. The company began manufacturing lingerie and later expanded to sportswear, swimwear and T-shirts. With factories in 17 countries and roughly 2.4 billion dollars in turnover by 2022, MAS is Sri Lanka’s largest clothing manufacturer. The Amalean brothers are among the wealthiest men in the country.
The company emphatically presents itself as a sustainable clothing manufacturer. For instance, the company promises to emit 25 per cent less CO2 by 2025 than in 2019, and CEO Suren Fernando expects the group to earn half its revenue from sustainable products by then.
In May 2023, MAS received a Presidential Environment Award from President Ranil Wickremesinghe for the company’s commitment to the environment. The company describes the welfare of its employees as ‘its top priority’. On the subject of paying a living wage, the company makes no promises.
In the early 1900s, Parmanand Hirdaramani, then 16 years old, started a clothing shop in Sri Lanka’s capital Colombo. Today, his great-grandson Aroon Hirdaramani runs the Hirdaramani Group, which has grown into an international clothing conglomerate with factories in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Vietnam and a turnover of around 900 million US dollars.
Hirdaramani also presents itself as a sustainable producer. The company’s website states: ‘At Hirdaramani, we do the right thing. We have always done that. It’s about making good decisions today that benefit everyone in the long run.’
Since 2019, all Hirdaramani factories in Sri Lanka have been producing climate neutrally. For 2025, the company has set several targets on material use, water use, waste and leadership. Paying a living or higher wage is not a target.
In 2016, Aroon Hirdaramani and his wife Mona surfaced in the Pandora Papers. It emerged that Hirdaramani owned two investment companies in the British Virgin Islands. The reason for this is unclear. The fact is that companies based there do not have to pay tax on income, profits, dividends and interest, among other things.

Sixteen-hour workdays

Eligibility to manufacture Patagonia products requires a supplier to meet a list of sustainability criteria. Those criteria are set out in a code of conduct for suppliers. For example, child labour, forced labour, or physical, sexual or verbal harassment are not allowed. All national laws must be respected. Suppliers must respect workers’ right to freedom of association, may not force workers to work overtime and must ensure healthy working conditions. Working weeks of more than 60 hours or more than six days in a row is not acceptable to Patagonia.
Patagonia checks whether a factory complies with these standards through independent auditor visits at least once a year, says the brand after being questioned by Follow the Money. Checks are also carried out by the Fair Labor Association (FLA) and FairTrade: two NGOs that provide Patagonia’s manufacturing process and clothing with a sustainability label.
A part of those audits is public. Since 2016, the FLA has publishedassessments of seven Patagonia factories, including three in Vietnam, three in Sri Lanka and one in China. During those inspections, auditors found dozens of violations, varying greatly in severity.
For instance, almost 2000 employees at a factory in Vietnam were paid less for their overtime than what they should have received and employees’ ages were not recorded (thus child labour cannot be ruled out). Another check found out that applicants had to provide their menstrual date. Employees told the interviewers they were not allowed to become pregnant in the first six months of their employment. Less serious violations dealt with issues such as working without protective equipment, blocked emergency exits, or a lack of policies on harassment or discrimination.
One problem crops up in every report. Textile workers in factories manufacturing clothes for Patagonia work far longer hours than legally permitted: up to 17 hours a day and more than 80 hours a week, well beyond what is permissible according to Patagonia’s code of conduct.
‘Long working hours with insufficient breaks often lead to health problems,’ the Clean Clothes Campaign recently wrote about this issue. ‘Managers pressure employees to work 10- to 12-hour and sometimes even 16- to 18-hour days. The number of hours increases as the deadline approaches. Those who protest are simply fired. Moreover, workers depend on overtime to supplement their low wages.’
At the Regal Image factory in Sri Lanka, manager Fernando assures that his employees work a maximum of five days a week and 10 hours a day. But during the tour, a line manager starts talking about the duration of his shift: from eight in the morning to a quarter to 10 in the evening – almost 14 hours. ‘It’s busy,’ says Fernando, casually.
‘This is what the fast-fashion model does,’ says Smelik. ‘Brands want their products to be in store within a few weeks. So when a factory receives an order from such a brand, the production targets and overtime skyrocket.’

‘They talk to us like we are animals’

The office of Stand Up Lanka, a union led by Ashila Niroshine Dandeniya, is located just outside the Free-Trade Zone. She started working in a MAS factory, part of MAS Holdings that is a supplier to Patagonia, in 2003. Her colleagues elected her to represent them as a member of the factory’s employees council. But when she addressed the matter of wages, she was fired. She challenged her dismissal, got compensation, and discovered that there were laws in place to protect people like her.
Now, almost 20 years later, she knows Sri Lankan labour law like the back of her hand. Her office is a hexagon with five windows, all open. Textile workers from nearby factories approach her via these windows to greet her or ask for help.
When a transman walks past, she says, ‘He applied to MAS Shadowline [one of Patagonia’s suppliers, ed] a month ago. They said they didn’t want him because he is transgender. He can’t get work anywhere. And he cannot go back to his village because he is Muslim. His family will shoot him.’
When about six women wearing yellow MAS polos come and ask for a food parcel, Dandeniya shakes her head. ‘We don’t have enough. Since the country’s economic crisis, some families barely eat two meals a day. How am I supposed to choose who can eat and who can’t?’
That evening, she introduces Priya (31). Priya has been working for MAS Shadowline for almost two years, sewing the side seams on leggings or T-shirts. She makes many clothes for yoga brand Lululemon and for Lacoste (famous through the crocodile logo), but sometimes also for Patagonia.
‘The worst part is the scolding,’ she says in her home a few streets away: a room of about 12 square metres. It contains a double bed, a small kitchenette and a wardrobe. Despite the fan on the wall, it is sweltering hot inside. She shares a toilet and a shower with others.
‘My supervisor’s manager is a terrible man. He touches everyone in a bad way, and if you say you don’t want that, you have a problem. He yells at me if I have to go to the bank or the doctor. “Then who will do the work? Who will meet the target?” And he’s not the only one. They talk to us like we are animals.’
When asked about her production targets, she breathes a deep sigh. ‘The other day, Lululemon placed a huge order, and now everyone is stressed. On the first day, we had to make seventy items per hour, but on the second day, it was suddenly a hundred. Otherwise, we won’t make the delivery date.’ During the working day, she does not drink water so that she does not waste time going to the toilet. Despite this, she seldom meets the target. And that means: no bonus.
Without that bonus, Priya earns 32,000 rupees a month (97 euros). Her room costs 7,000 rupees (21 euros), and a meal 300 rupees (1 euro). She has no money left for other things.
‘Since the crisis, we are increasingly hearing stories from our members of textile workers using drugs,’ says Dandeniya. ‘Also in MAS factories that Patagonia works with. They use it to work faster. Sometimes also against the hunger.’
Chamila Thushari, union leader of Dabindu Collective, confirms the story. ‘They use Ice (Crystal Meth) or Babul.’ She points to her collar and to the sole of her shoe. ‘This is how they smuggle it in. The management knows this happens but allows it. All they care about is production targets are being met.’
An employee of a third union, GTZ-GSEU, confirms that drug use among textile workers in the Free Trade Zone is a problem.
Patagonia says these claims are ‘new’ to them and ‘serious’, but says, without evidence, it cannot comment.

A living wage

That Patagonia, known for being sustainable, has its clothes manufactured in the same factories as other much less sustainable brands is seen as an advantage by the company. ‘Patagonia has a powerful brand voice, but we are a quite small player in the apparel sector. Therefore, we are always looking for ways to scale our impact and to elevate the industry standards across the board, bringing other apparel retailers along on the journey with us. So, continuing to engage in shared production facilities is crucial to this work.’
Patagonia wants all people who make clothes to earn a decent wage. In 2015, the company promised that within 10 years, all employees in its supply chain would be earning a living wage that would be enough to live on. That is, enough for food, water, housing, education, healthcare, transport and other essential needs.
With 18 months to go, only 40 per cent of its factories pay a living wage, according to Patagonia. They would not reveal the factories concerned. Suppliers reportedly ‘have the right to maintain their factories’ wage data confidential’.

With 18 months to go, only 40 per cent of its factories pay a living wage, according to Patagonia. They would not reveal the factories concerned. Suppliers reportedly ‘have the right to maintain their factories’ wage data confidential’.
To determine a living wage, Patagonia uses the Anker Research Institute’s calculation method. According to that method, you can live decently in urban Sri Lanka if you earn a minimum of 83,231 Sri Lankan rupees (263 euro) a month. Priya’s salary does not even cover half that. And at the recently approved Regal Image print factory, the basic wage is even lower: 21,000 rupees (66 euro), says Fernando.
Thulsi Narayanasamy is frustrated by Patagonia’s approach to sustainability. She is director of advocacy at the Worker Rights Consortium, an independent non-profit organization that monitors and investigates labor conditions in the global apparel and textile industry. ‘Patagonia spends millions on green initiatives. Why can’t they pay the people who make their clothes properly?’
Patagonia says it ‘has no authority over how much textile workers get paid, as they are in no way, shape or form the employer of these workers.’ Narayanasamy, however, is convinced Patagonia can pay a living wage, if the brand would want to. ‘They could bring production in-house or pay more to suppliers that’s ringfenced for wages high enough to achieve a living income. It’s so well established that brand’s pricing practices directly impact wage levels, it’s a fallacy to deny this.’
‘I think we should ask ourselves: why don't clothing brands have their own factories?’ She asks the question, then answers it. 'Brands don't want to be responsible for the people who produce their clothes. All brands benefit from that, including Patagonia.
RESPONSE FROM PATAGONIA When asked why it does not pay its suppliers more for decent wages for workers, Patagonia replied: ‘Relying on one brand to simply cover the gap is a band-aid solution and does not serve the factory in the long run. If the one brand that pays the gap were to leave the factory, then those wages for workers would go away, leaving the factory with a shortfall they would not be able to cover. Additionally, if the brand just writes a check to the factory, then there is no guarantee that the money would go towards workers’ wages. The brand has no authority over how much workers get paid as they are in no way, shape or form the employer of those workers.’
About the long working hours, Patagonia says: ‘Excessive overtime is pervasive globally, which is why it is audited regularly. If we find a problem that can be resolved, we work with our factory partners to implement sustainable solutions. This can take many years, but we find this is the best outcome for the workers and the factory.’
In response to the allegations about drug use among textile workers, Patagonia says: ‘These are serious and new allegations, however without evidence, we are not able to comment on them. We are continuing to conduct our ongoing monitoring program and we remain committed to addressing systemic issues to ensure workers’ wellbeing across our supply chain.’

2023.06.10 11:05 PhysicsAndAlcohol Looking for a pyment recipe for a young grape vine

In November 2021, my SO's father suddenly died very young. When we were cleaning out his house, we found a short "dead" branch in a pot in his yard. We knew his father stole a small grapevine branch in the Provence and planted it over here in Belgium and gifted several plants to his kids. The branch was still kinda pliable, so we kept it. In the summer of 2022 it grew a lot and gave us 3 small bunches of dark winegrapes. We gave it a good place in our yard and a lot of water, and it looks like we'll get 10-20 bunches this year. As it's a really special plant to my SO, we'd like to make a pyment out of it, so we're looking for a recipe for 10-20 grapebunches to make a 20 l (5-ish US gallons) pyment.

Hello and thank you for taking interest in my post.
I have been taking care of a stray cat for over 2 months. I have called her Pauline because when I first started seeing her, she was laying in my neighbor's kids' "trampoline" to sun herself. She is probably about a year old by my estimation.
Anyway on to my concern, on Monday June 5, I took her (and another stray) to the vet to both be spayed. Things appeared to go as expected and the spay was allegedly typical. I brought them back home in as good of spirits as I felt a cat would after having surgery. I set carriers outside afterwards and fed and provided water afterwards. They both obviously moved a little slower as I would anticipate, but eventually after getting their fill, they wondered off and did their own things.
For Tuesday and Wednesday, I saw both cats at regular expected intervals of when they commonly showed up. They appeared to be doing well; seemed back to themselves practically. I felt like everything was a raging success.
Thursday, Pauline was late to morning feed. Didn't think much of it at the time, but stayed vigilant looking for her. Finally looked out my window at about 10 am and saw her sitting in her carrier I left out. I initially thought that was adorable she was resting in the cage and went out to feed.
She was not her usual perky self or excited. She was lethargic and listless. I held a treat to her face, and was uninterested. She stood up, and walked away slowly (as if annoyed) and I was concerned enough at that point to call the vet. They asked me to bring her in at 2 pm. I said I would do so if I could catch her again. I went back outside and found her wondering aimlessly. I reached down and picked her up and she made a barely audible cry as I carried her over to the carrier. Her mammeries appeared very swollen. I was worried if she could have had a litter I didnt know about that could have been the cause of this? She put up one initial struggle, and then completely gave in to me placing her inside the carrier (it was much more of a struggle when I first caught her to be spayed).
Went to the vet. Different vet than who performed the surgery. Reviewed the tenderness and belly. Was baffled by swollen nipples. Gave her antibiotic, and some pain relief tablets to administer. Vet tech took temperature and it was 104, a fever. Tech also said she was hydrated. Vet administered an antibiotic and gave me some pills to mix with wet food that was supposed to offer pain relief.
Brought her home and she would not leave the carrier. Couldn't entice her with multiple food options. I set up a camera in her room to monitor all activity (she is isolated from my indoor cat).
She got up only to use the litter box (solid stool) and urinate. Then she immediately lays back down. Occassionally readjusts her orientation, but not moving.
Not much changed throughout the rest of the evening. 3 AM saw her take her first drink of water. Seen her drink a few more times that morning and afternoon (Friday).
I called the vet again in the morning and mentioned no eating. They prescribed some medicine to apply to her ear that is supposed to encourage appetite (and some canned food). I picked up the food and applied the appetite inducer at about 1:30 PM and, alas, still has no interest in eating. She still looked dejected, hunched, lethargic.
At one point she used the litterbox to urinate, and afterwards, went into the bathtub to lay down, further isolation. Went to check on her at about 4 and I saw some dried pink smudge where I assumed she had layed. I worried it came from her belly and then called the vet a third time at 5.
They vet requested I bring her in to be examined. She cried when I picked her up to move her to the cage, not audible. When I set her into the cage, did not even adjust, just dumpy and staring. I was really concerned at this point (still am)
They took her temperature again; this time 99.7...took it twice to be confident. Vet came in and again is surprised by the swollen mammeries. He ran some blood tests, and she had low white blood cells and platelets. He noted she was not anemic. No signs of bleeding. Basically I don't think the tests drew any conclusiveness to what is going on. Tested for feline lukemia, and came back negative. They attempted to do two tests for cat parvo (forget the name of the disease he tested for), unfortunately both test strips did not work and so this was inconclusive.
They administered an IV to give her fluids (she was dehydrated at this point) and they gave her a syringe by mouth of some antibiotic (which I am supposed to administer daily). The vet tech suggested I could syringe watered down food.
So after all that, the blood tests provided no indicators as to what was wrong. The vets conclusion was that she has a combination of swollen mammeries due to hormonal regulation, an infection, and (potentially) a virus?
I brought her home from the vet at 6:30PM. She left the cage at 2 AM Saturday morning to pee, and then went back to the cage. Has not ate or drank.
I am pretty exhausted, worried, and not sure what I can do. I haven't wanted to pull her out of the cage to force feed as I imagine that would be uncomfortable. I would do so if anyone thinks this could help restore her energy, but I feel like letting her rest for the evening.
Anyway, I am up late, concerned, and turning to reddit for any advice or suggestions for anything more I can do to care for this girl. I feel a lot of personal guilt for her suffering right now and am trying to do the right thing.
Tldr: Took two strays to the vet to be spayed Monday. Appeared to be doing well for first 2 days. Found cat listless and despondent in carrier two days later and took her to vet Thursday. Vet baffled by swollen nipples, administered antibiotic and gave me pain meds to administer in food. Cat refuses to eat. Haven't seen her eat since Wednesday. Has drank water occasionally and used bathroom (peed and solid poop). Called Vet Friday worried about food intake and continued lethargy. Prescribed medication to apply to ear to encourage eating. Applied and was still concerned with lack of energy. Saw her laying on towel and tub with some light thin red discharge. Called Vet again and went for another appointment Friday. Performed blood tests that were inconclusive. Tested for feline lukemia and was negative. Administered IV and gave antibiotic by syringe (I am supposed to administer for a week).
Cat has only left carrier to urinate once since afternoon visit.
Any additional consideration or advice is immensely appreciated.

2023.06.10 08:49 Breems Reconciling different algae advice from two pool companies

Reconciling different algae advice from two pool companies
I have a 7000 gallon 18x52 pool with an Intex sand filter.
I had my water tested by two pool companies with the results attached, and I got wildly different advice.
The first attached image was from a company that seemed fairly incompetent. Their main shtick was that my phosphates were high and I needed to add Zero Phos to lower them and remove the algae’s food source, but they later pivoted to an algaecide called Banish to kill the algae. I ignored their advice due to wishy-washy answers to my questions.
The second image was from a company that seemed more knowledgeable, but they seemed to think my levels looked OK and “couldn’t really explain” my issues. Their recommendation was to partially drain and refill to lower my CYA. They also pointed out that the shock I used (Clorox Xtra Blue 6-in-1) probably contributed to my high CYA because it was sodium dichloro, and I should’ve used a calcium shock. They didn’t mention phosphates at all as their reading was 500 (1k lower than the first company).
  1. After researching further and reading SLAM, it seems like the second company had the right idea? I’m currently draining half my pool, then plan to refill, test, and SLAM.
  2. After fighting the algae for 4 days, I’ve gone 2 days without doing anything (filter has been off) while waiting for testing/advice. Have those 2 days doomed me, or should I still have a fighting chance with SLAM once my fresh water is added?
  3. The skimmer basket/water in my sand filter now has a green tint. Do I need to clean it separately, or will SLAMing the pool clean up the filter also?
  4. When I’ve backwashed my filter, I get green muck for 20-30 seconds followed by clean water with good pressure. I’ve only had it for 1 season, so should my sand still be good despite processing all this crap?
Thanks in advance!

2023.06.10 08:49 ayman678 15 Solo tips from 8k hour solo

I just randomly felt like writing down how I play just in case any other solos wanted some ideas since these days I feel like I'm consistently having good wipes and always stacked. Keep in mind these strats are made only for if you're playing solo and just trying to get blueprints on a high pop server. Obviously there are better ways if you have the man power.
So here are my main strategies as a solo for how to consistently get stacked:
  1. Trio servers are by far the best solo experience you can have imo (Rusticated US Trio being my favorite).
  2. At the start of wipe the very first thing I do is go to fishing village and do the fishing rod quest and fish until I have a small boat. Then I loot every tool crate on the way the way to my desired base location. Doing this stacks you up on bows, cross bows, pickaxes, salvaged picks, hatchets, sometimes a jackhammer as well as enough scrap for a tier 1 right off the bat.
  3. I usually base in between a fishing village and one of the oilrigs (highly prefer small oil) and if that isn't ideal then I base in between a fishing village and underwater labs. Basing directly on the water is imo the easiest way to get ahead as a solo.
  4. If it is force wipe then I will fish until I have enough scrap for a submarine and some torpedos to counter the first cargo off wipe since people are less likely to buy a mini to the first cargo. Theres a 50/50 chance they leave first cargo with a mini but I have gotten some pretty insane starts doing this. You just trail cargo until they drop down with the rhib and resurface the submarine and torpedo them. This works often enough to where its worth giving it a shot.
  5. If you're based near smoil you can take it with very minimal gear as a solo (compound bow, crossy, nail gun). I will fish for a blue card and take smoil with the goal of getting the elite in the blue room and hoping for a gun (this is a force wipe strat and isn't that worth doing if you have bps already).
  6. If playing on wipe day on some 500 pop server, going to smoil after someone has already taken it is very ideal because there are multiple crates that respawn decently fast and I would suggest camping smoil for roughly 20 minutes just doing this. I've never done this and not gotten something useful to bp once I get home because the crates respawn kind of fast when the pop is that high. Sometimes you'll get counters but I think this is still worth attempting on bp wipe.
  7. A somewhat safe way to recycle as a solo when you are far from outpost/bandit is if the map seed has the harbor that has the recycler that is close to the water. I use submarine to drive up right next to the recycler. You can keep an eye out and if anyone shows up you can quickly loot the recycler and jump down into your submarine. I usually build bases that include a boat base that can fit one small boat as well as one submarine. If you don't have a garage door bp yet just use double doors and take them off and put them back on when you need to enteleave.
  8. If the harbor method works well for you it isn't a bad idea to just focus on hitting barrels in the water and recycle until you have a tier 2 or even a tier 3. The fastest I've gotten a tier 3 with this method was 2.5 hours into wipe. If you have the patience you can also fish at fishing village until you have enough scrap for a tier 2/3, I find this really boring and don't usually do it ever but if you're decent at fishing you can expect 600-800 scrap every 40 mins doing this. I say every 40 minutes because that is how long it usually takes to break a fishing rod.
  9. On force wipe I'm not too worried about getting raided so half way through the day all i have is a honeycombed 2by2. Since I'm on the water I make a farm base on the water in the snow and this is usually a 1by1 with an airlock and maybe even an extension to the base where i can safely keep a single boat. I bring basically all my tools to this base any jack hammers i have salvaged picks, chainsaws, ect. and just farm until I have enough to make a good sized base.
  10. If all has gone well my base will be done and I will attempt to get a minicopter and start planning a raid. The best way to raid as solo is going top down with a mini since it is much harder for people to counter you.
  11. While doing all of this you should have a minimum of 2 furnaces at home running metal the entire time you're out of base pretty much have them running 24/7. Use a third one to run sulfur but metal is a priority for a solo on wipe day so you can log off with a strong base. Aim to have a base that costs 24-30 rockets to raid, easily achievable with a bunker.
  12. I usually strictly play solo because I really like the difficulty of doing all of this on my own but once I'm established I actually have a discord of like 30ish players I've played with over the years and if I need help with like a raid or something I'll just @ the entire discord and usually have 2 decent players for the trio server lend me a hand even if briefly just for a raid. If you play a similar way to me I recommend making a discord server with people willing to do this. I've played like this for years so it took a while to get a decent number of people who know the drill and will do this with me.
  13. If having a bad wipe you can always resort to just farming the ocean barrels and the sunken chests but I find this really boring and just join someone elses wipe if it comes to this. Though, it doesn't usually come to this. Doing this is a super chill rust experience though if you don't mind it.
  14. Contest every cargo even if you think there is a low chance of success. I will try to be the first person on and try to loot the elites and just leave if I get anything exceptionally good. If nothing good comes of the elites I will wait at the bottom floor and try to grub someone for a full kit and then leave with it if possible.
  15. If you're based near labs I recommend doing the fishing village quest to get a pump shotgun and then go to labs and if anyone shows up to counter I would immediately camp a ladder and wait for them to come up. Its best to bring a shotgun or an smg to labs, a semi rifle isn't that great here. Side tip: you don't need a diving tank to get into labs. Just bring flippers and make sure when you go underwater you are directly above the moon pool, you can do this without taking any damage and it also makes it harder for people to hear you come up.
That's pretty much all. I'm sure I missed a few things but this is all that comes to mind. I consistently get stacked day 1 doing pretty much just all of this.
If you all have other strats for soloing I kind of want to hear them as well.
Edit: It isn't uncommon to get a supply signal from labs/oil so you should grab a diving tank and drive your boat off grid with it and throw it in the water.

2023.06.10 08:09 alurry [US-TX] [H] Entire 4K Collection (250+) [W] PayPal

I am selling my entire personal collection. 95% of these were purchased new by me. Immediately after purchase I put them into the plastic protectors and haven't removed them since. None are heavily damaged (bending, major dents, multiple large scratches, etc.). There may be tiny dents, scratches, and the odd spine slash here and there. When you are ready to purchase I will let you know if I see any noticeable damage, however minor or major.

These are all used and opened and none contain the digital code or j-card. The vast majority contain all the original discs but a few might be missing the regular blu-ray. Most discs have never been played but I have watched a few once or twice. No issues while playing any of them.

I will ship for free via Media Mail. If you would prefer I ship using First Class or something else we can work out an extra fee. I would prefer to use PayPal F&F but will accept G&S if you insist. I will ship with the plastic protector (or with the slipcover that originally came with the SteelBook) and I will ship securely in a box with lots of bubble wrap (see picture below).

Prices are somewhat firm but it's hard to say what a lot of these are worth so feel free to make an offer. The more you buy the better deal I can give you. 10% off (possibly more) if you buy 2 and it only goes up from there. I would prefer to keep most of the collections together for now but could sell individually for the right price.

Proof (https://imgur.com/a/UOAZ2UL). If you want more assurance I have 224 transactions in DigitalCodeSELL (check my post history). I can also link you my eBay page if that is allowed. 3.6K items sold with 100% positive feedback.

2023.06.10 08:00 inkisbad124 One female betta in a sorority randomly trying to fight after nearly a year?

I have a 36 gallon tank with 5 bettas, it was previously 4 but I just got a 5th on Monday (she's a baby and super tiny) but just one of my bettas is just now randomly trying to argue and fight with my other bettas?? The baby has been hiding since I got her on Monday, probably because she's super tiny and just a baby and was most likely just separated from her family and I think my water filter is too much for her right now. But my one female crown tail is trying to chase my other 3 adult female bettas and trying to start fights. I separated her and she got mad as hell and was trying to attack the sides of the cup (yes I used the cup from the pet store from the betta I got on Monday because that's what I had on hand at that exact moment, I didn't have an extra set up tank because I didn't expect her to start fighting everyone randomly) She originally started arguing with my oldest fish Ruby (red veil tail) , I gave them a little bit of food but I just fed them the other day, the crowntail and the veil tail starting slapping fins until my veil tail had enough and showed her who's boss (she didn't hurt her) , I gave them more food thinking that was the issue but the crowntail kept chasing all the other fish, so I put her in a cup so she didn't keep trying to fight everyone. Should I keep her separated? I just added more plants to the tank. Should I put her back in and see how she does?
